Beckham Interested in Montreal Impact

If you read this blog often you’ll notice that I am of course a soccer fan but that I love the Montreal Impact and the Bordeaux Girondins. So when I heard the news that David Beckham was interested in being part owner of the Montreal Impact and helping them find their way into the MLS I nearly hit the roof.
David Beckham has it in his contract that he could purchase a MLS team in 2012. That’s not saying that he’ll be playing for the Impact but that his expertise in the game could help them in the league.

Montreal Impact Bows To River Plate 2-1

Montreal Impact lost to Argentina’s River Plate 2-1 last night in over-time. River Plate remained undefeated on their Canadian tour. They played the Toronto FC and a game against an English clud in Edmonton so far.

It may have been raining hard in Montreal yesterday but attendance was high to near capacity at the Saputo Stadium. A large River Plate crowd was there for support as well. RP’s Christian Fabbiano managed to slip one buy in the 21st minute. But it was Montreal’s rebound in the 64 minute by Roberto Brown that got the local fans going.

Bordeaux Girondins Defeat Montreal Impact

The Bordeaux Girondins were in Montreal to play the En avant Guingamp Club for the Champions Trophy on Saturday, July 25. I guess they decided that since they were there anyways they’d play the Montreal Impact.
The two teams faced off yesterday at the Saputo Stadium and resulted in a not surprising Bordeaux 2-1 victory. The friendly match is a good sign that the Impact are serious about joining the MLS. The Impact have gain a reputation as a competitive and well organized team, yet the MLS still chose the Vancouver Whitecaps as the new franchise addition instead of the …read more

The Vancouver Whitecaps have much to prove as they are now preparing themselves for entry into the MLS in 2012. The Whitecaps weren’t able to thwart the Toronto FC in the first Canadian Championship games, but they did manage to beat the Montreal Impact last night.
The Montreal Impact are the reigning champions of last years Nutrilite Canadian Championship but that doesn’t seem to be working in their favour this year.

The Toronto FC are naturally excited by their recent streak of wins and hope that they will continue to be strong in the MLS. Montreal on the other hand continued to disappoint fans by tying their following …read more

Toronto FC to face Whitecaps in Canadian Championships

It’s not often that the Toronto FC and the Vancouver Whitecaps get to play each other. But with the Whitecaps entry into the MLS by 2012 the two rival Canadian teams will get to face off once again. For Canada however the two teams have been matched again for the Nutrilite Canadian Championship games.

Montreal Impact Seeks $25M for MLS Bid

Montreal Impact are looking for $25 million to help build a new stadium. The government of Canada and Quebec are being asked to split the burden.

With government spending being spent frivolously for Vancouver’s Winter Olympics, there’s no surprise that they won the 2011 MLS bid. The Vancouver Whitecaps will be the second Canadian team to join the Major League Soccer association. Understandably, the Montreal Impact are a little jealous and want a fair chance for a future MLS bid.
The problem is that the economy is not doing so good and $25 million is allot of paper to be …read more
