Mia Hamm of the United States has been named as ambassador for the 2011 Women’s World Cup Games in Germany. The prestigious honor means that Hamm will be going around the world to represent the games and help promote women’s soccer. She was named world player of the year back in 2001 and has brought home gold medals for the United States for the last two summer Olympic games.

Mexico Wins Fifth Gold Cup!

The United Staes folded under pressure from Mexico after they pushed for a victory and ultimate win of the coveted 2009 Gold Cup. The Cup represents the best soccer nation in North and Central America. Canada made it to the quarter finals but it was the U.S. who believed they had it in the bag.
The United States has won the cup four times in the past, Mexico now has them beat with five Gold Cup wins. Congratulations Mexico.

Donovan & Hamm Join USA 2018 Bid Team

Two of the biggest USA soccer stars have been asked to help a United States bid for the 2018 or 2020 World Cup. Mia Hamm and Landon Donovan have been asked and have agreed to help the National Bid Committee in their ensuing efforts.
Being able to host the FIFA World Cup games is one of the best economic boosts a country could have. Canada Women Will Face USA Twice

The Canadian Soccer Association has announced today that their women’s team will face the United States in a World Cup qualifying match. This will be the first time since the Olympic Games that the two countries have had to face each other.
The games will take place Sunday 19 July in Rochester, NY and Wednesday 22 July in Charleston, SC. The Canadian women’s next World Cup match will be held on Monday May 25 at the BMO Fields in Toronto against Japan. For tickets contact ticketmaster.ca or 416.872.5000.

2009 Gold Cup Will Be Hosted In US

It was announced on Monday that 13 United States cities will play partial host to the 2009 Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) Gold Cup.
“The regional tourney opens at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. on July 3 and ends on the other side of the country on July 26 at Giants Stadium in East Rutherford, N.Y. In between, fans can witness matches in Columbus, Ohio, Phoenix, Ariz., Philadelphia, Pa., Washington, D.C., Dallas, Texas, Chicago, Ill., Seattle, Wash., Oakland, Calif., Houston, Texas, Miami, Fla., and Foxborough, Mass.”
