The Montreal Impact felt like they were duped when they withdrew their bid for a MLS franchise after finding out that the MLS is charging a $40 million expansion fee. The Impact could have been playing in the MLS by 2011 had they followed through with the deal. However, not all is lost for the Canadian soccer team.
Their hopes of being added to the MLS have been renewed after MLS commissioner Don Garber extended his desire to have Montreal added as the 18th team to the league. The hopes are that they will be able to expand to a well …read more

The Seattle Sounders shut down any hopes for the F.C. Dallas winning the Major League Soccer Cup this year by eliminating them from the playoffs. Saturday night’s game at the Qwest Fields in Seattle was a saddening loss for Dallas when they let in two goals, ending the game 2-1.
The lone point was enough to crush Dallas dreams for a cup this season but hey did they really think they could best the Seattle Sounders? The team was introduced this 2009 season and was marked as the team to beat after they acquired Steve Zakuani (who was the MLS first …read more

The Toronto FC soccer club has gone from bad to worse for midfielder Carl Robinson. Toronto FC are three points behind a spot that would give them a chance to play towards the MLS Cup this year and they have no hope of making it. To make matters worse Robinson collided with a team member during practice injuring his face.
The injury was so severe that he was advised to get reconstructive surgery from his physician. The surgery will keep him off of the pitch for at least 6 weeks. That’s more than enough time to miss out on the …read more

Well it looks as if the Toronto FC won’t be getting a jab at the MLS Cup this year. At least not after their performance against the Chicago Fire. Chicago’s Brian McBride put a late 78th minute goal past the defense and into the opposing Toronto net. Chicago seems to be having everything go for them these days.
President Barack Obama will be flying to Europe to meet with the Olympic Committee to help petition Chicago’s bit for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. Personally having so many games held in North America in recent years might play against their bid. …read more

If you read this blog often you’ll notice that I am of course a soccer fan but that I love the Montreal Impact and the Bordeaux Girondins. So when I heard the news that David Beckham was interested in being part owner of the Montreal Impact and helping them find their way into the MLS I nearly hit the roof.
David Beckham has it in his contract that he could purchase a MLS team in 2012. That’s not saying that he’ll be playing for the Impact but that his expertise in the game could help them in the league.

It’s been an eventful year for the Seattle Sounders who are the newest team added to the MLS this season. They came on strong early on and made a name for themselves. Being sponsored by XBOX help increase their popularity as well. But now they can add U.S. Open Cup winners to their rap sheet.
Freddy Montero and Roger Levesque scored on the D.C. United giving them an encouraging 2-0 lead. The United’s fought their way back but it was too late and was only able to put one goal in at the 89th minute mark by Clyde Simms.

It seems that whenever a team does poorly they just fire the coach. Well I guess they have to blame somebody. It’s no surprise that the New York Red Bulls were the worst team in the MLS this season holding a 2-16-4 score.
I suppose that the blame could could have been pointed at anyone of the players but the scapegoat turned out to be the head coach, Juan Carlos Osorio. So as usual coach Osorio decided to quietly resign and allow his assistant coach Richie Williams the chance to take the reigns for a while. General managers are already looking …read more
