In a year, Ronaldo would make about $14.5 million and according to reports, the new contract would keep him there until 2014. If he were to accept such an offer he would then become the highest paid player in the Premier League.

He still has three years left with his current contract but FIFA rules would allow him to buy himself out of his contract at the end of next season.

Beckham Playing for AC Milan During Winter

Transfers David Beckham in Milan

Los Angeles Galaxy star player, David Beckham, might sign a contract with AC Milan to play in the winter, starting January, during the MLS offseason. Therefore, he’d be able to keep his contract with the Galaxy and be able to stay fit during the league’s time off.

Simon Oliveira a spokesperson for Becks, eliminated any rumors of the player being traded. “He very much remains a Galaxy player, and he would be in Los Angeles for the start of the 2009 MLS season.”

AC’s vice president continues the discussion by saying, “We’ll sign him for a few months, and then he’ll go back. Beckham will bring more fans.”

If I were an AC Milan fan, I’d be ecstatic and I’m sure Beckham’s arrival will be heavily welcomed by most. I just hope he doesn’t get injured while playing for them. That’d be quite a bad turn for the Galaxy.

February 1, 2008 by Jyle Dupuis

ronaldinho Soccer star Ronaldinho will reportedly be leaving his home team of Barcelona to English club Chelsea for around 116 million dollars. The move is seen as a slap in the face to Barcelona who see themselves as a tight knit team. But hey, it’s $116 million dollars. That would put his salary well past Beckham who makes $30 million. Honour aside, that’s allot of money!

30 Matumona ZOLAA soccer player from FC Brussels has walked out on his team after being “racially abused by the Belgian club’s president Johan Vermeersch.”

Zola Matumona has put together a team of lawyers who are filing an official complaint over what is being described as “racist and xenophobic abuse dished out in front of players and coaching staff.” The Congolese player reports specific incidents where coach Vermeersch told him to get his head in the game and forget about “trees and bananas.”

The complaint is coming at a cost for FC Brussels who has reported that South Korean car manufacturer, KIA has withdrawn their sponsorship. KIA officials has told reporters that they “don’t want to be associated in any way with racism.”

England’s ‘Daily Mirror’ Reports False Rumors About Beckham

October 3, 2007 by Jyle Dupuis

david-beckham-los-angeles-galaxyThe Daily Mirror of England is going to lose credibility today for reporting false rumors. They wrote that David Beckham was dissatisfied with the quality of play in the MLS League and that he was conspiring a sub-contract for Sunderland of the English Premier League.

Sunderland is coached by Beckham’s former Manchester United teammate Roy Keane. The rumor comes at a emotional time for Beckham as he returns to L.A. after spending the week with his father who had just suffered a near fatal heart attack. Beckham is also reported to be working hard in order to play befor the MLS League season ends.

Gooners Deny Golden Balls Link

March 14, 2006 by admin

Arsenal's Peter Hill-WoodPeter Hill-Wood has denied any knowledge of Arsenal’s supposed interest in England captain David Beckham and has verified most pundits take on the rumour by saying it would be totally against Arsene Wenger’s transfer policy to buy an established big name star, especially one on the wane like Beckham.

Preferring the youthful legs of Cesc Fabregas and Mathieu Flamini this season, it would have been a great shock if Wenger been more interested in taking Beckham home from Real Madrid as he doesn’t really seem to suit the style of fluid, fast moving football now preferred to humping the long ball at Highbury.

Hill-Wood also says that the current side will fill the Emirates Stadium (aka Cashburden Grove) without problems although I’d imagine that’s something more of a fanciful claim than he’s letting on. Whether a possible failure to reach even the qualifying stages of the Champion’s League will put attendances at their new stadium under further pressure remains to be seen.

Arrested in Liverpool, Or: the Rapid Downfall of Gazza

December 6, 2005 by admin

Gazza againJesus Christ. Really, if we would have just sat down and thought about it for a second, we could have predicted this exact series of events:

1. Gazza gets tiny new job in football. He’s all clean and shiny and, apart from the fact that his wardrobe consists entirely of shirts from the 1970s, he seems to have things together.
2. Gazza appears pitchside on TV, slurring his words.
3. Gazza is fired and accused of drinking on the job.
4. Gazza gives an angry TV interview, talking about refusing to leave the club, and making threats about buying the owner out - notwithstanding the fact that he’s apparently broke.
5. Gazza drowns his sorrows in various adult beverages.
6. Gazza hits a photographer, allegedly laughing maniacally all the while.
7. Gazza lands in jail.
8. Gazza issues a tearful apology and goes to the US to get clean. Again. He promises the football world that, if he’s just given another chance, he’ll make everyone proud.

Granted, steps #5 and #8 are pure speculation, but I’m feeling pretty confident in both of them. You know what I said yesterday, about the sympathy of a nation running out? Yeah, this is definitely it. Poor man. At least normal people are allowed to fall apart in private - legends don’t get to do that.

Gazza: I’m Not a Drunk and I’m Not Leaving

December 5, 2005 by admin

Gazza and MersOh boy - here we go. According to a pissed off Paul Gascoigne, he had a double whiskey before games and a glass of wine afterwards, but he wasn’t drunk. And, since the pregame tipple used to consist of “four bottles of whiskey,” apparently anything less is ok. Anyway, drinking for recovering alcoholics is totally not a big deal, right? Sigh.

Gazza went on to announce that Ladak’s problem with him stems from that latter’s desire to choose the team, rather than from any misbehavior on his part. Not only that, but Gazza’s decided that he can’t be fired because he doesn’t have a contract. Therefore, he plans to turn up at Kettering’s next game and “stand behind the dugout giving instructions to the players from there.” Nice. Plus, he’s going to use his imaginary pile of money (he reportedly went into liquidation before he took the Kettering job) to buy Ladak out - that’ll show him, huh?

This is really doing wonders for his chances of ever getting another job in football, huh?
