Team USA are set to play the undefeated Spanish team in the FIFA Confederation Cup Semi-finals today, June 24th, 2009.

Spanish midfielder Xavi (C) attempts a pass while South African midfielder Steven Pienaar (R) tries to intercept during the first half of a Confederations Cup match at Free State Stadium in Bloemfontein, South Africa, on June 20.

The game might become a massacre when Spain takes to the field against USA. Spain are the undisputed champions and have not lost a game since 2006. Yesterday Spain let off against South Africa after leading the game 2-0. Spanish coach Vicente del Bosque decided that he didn’t want S. Africa eliminated from the running so he benched his two best forwards, Fernando Torres and David Villa. I doubt they will be as merciful with tomorrow’s game. Everyone loves to watch the world’s most powerful country at their beck and mercy.

  1. Viva South Africa Viva!!! As a South African citizen I had my doubts as to whether this country is ready for the world cup 2010. We are so ready to stage this event and having attended 3 Confed soccer matches, I personally would encourage soccer greats and fans alike to attend next year. Awesome and job well done to to the organizers of the Confed Cup. South Africans are a soccer crazy nation and the vibe is electrifying. Welcome all to our great country and take in all our splendour. viva!!!!!(neville goldstone)

“It is highly unlikely that team USA will make it past the World Cup qualifying round”

Are you ready to shut your biased pie-hole yet?
