WC Draw

To sum up: England and Sweden are playing again, the US is screwed, Ukraine has a great draw, and Italy’s life is not going to be easy. (The full listing is here.)
I’m still not sure if I’m going to make the trip or not (I went to Japan in 2002 and Portugal for the Euros in 2004), but seeing that grid suddenly makes the nearness of the tournament a reality. I even have some WC butterflies, which I think means at least part of me really wants to make the trip (I’ll have to check with that part to see if it can pay).
Just a quick look reveals a pair of potentially great group matches: Argentina v Holland on 21 June, and Italy v Czech Republic the next day. Hell, it’s almost worth flying to Germany just to see those teams face off (though the latter is the final group game, so both teams might already be through).

How ever did England manage to get Sweden again, would have liked to avoid them, but I have to say the US do seem to have the hardest group…
While I would certainly have preferred an easier group, I have to hold onto the memory that the US advanced over Poland and Portugal last time around. It won’t be easy, but then again it rarely is.
I hope for the next season the would be the champion..
