Former Premiership star Dwight Yorke is the prodigal son returned to the Trinidad & Tobago fold after resuming his international career after a self imposed exile early last year. A little slower than at his peak, Yorke now pulls the strings from an attacking midfield position and will be a requisite cog in the Trinidad & Tobago attack come the World Cup. A true giant amongst Caribbean football.

World Soccer have called Aurtis Whitley “T&T’s answer to Steven Gerrard” and the all action displays from the San Juan Jabloteh man in his national colours certainly bear that out. An all round midfield competitor who, like Gerrard, can perform equally well in a defensive or attacking midfield setting. His performances in the midfield will be key for Trinidad & Tobago both defending and going forward.

Rangers’ fans marvelled at Marvin Andrews after he refused to listen to medical advice after damaging his cruciate ligament during the 2004/2005 SPL season and with the help of spiritual healing, the born again Christian didn’t have surgery as he led Rangers to the SPL title. Tough and uncompromising in the air and on the ground, if England want to create space in the box, they’ll have to move Marvin Andrews to do it.
