There are reports the new 3G iPhone will be coming out at the Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WDC) in June 2008. It is said Apple has made a 10 million unit-strong order with Taiwan-based Hon Hai (Foxconn), for the new 3G phones. TGDaily has it from “industry sources” that the 3G iPhone will indeed be debuted at WWDC and will be offered in 8GB ($399), 16GB ($499) and possibly a monster 32GB ($599) variant. I am sure my friends who bought the non-3G ones will freak out once I get my hands on this 3G babies.

I can’t wait for the new iPhone. I will be moving to the new 3g from a Verizon set up
Will there be a “update” of so kind for us who bought the first generation iphone ? What might be the differents other than 3G ? If I don’t have 3G in my area, will it matter? Thanks.
Amos, I doubt Apple will give free upgrades. There could be some charges for upgrades. If you don’t have 3G, the will severely limit your download speeds to GPRS speeds
I can’t believe that I just paid over $1100.00 for 2 16Gb iphones, less than 4 months ago and Apple is coming out with a new model. (3G?)
I would only hope that Apple would make it possible for those of us who supported the (old??) phone would be able to d/l the firmware upgrades.
If not. Make it possible for those of us who would like to upgrade to get something for our (old??) ones. Especially since they are less than a year old. I would be glad to pay the difference if they showed consideration for the loyal Apple supporters. Even if it means a new contract with the carrier.
@R Montemuro: Take a look at this post for a little more updated information.
I think Apple would give some sort of credit towards a new 3G phone. I don’t think firmware would do it as it’s a new piece of radio technology in the phone to make it 3G…
