One of the best invention this decade is probably the wireless protocal. Whether its Wifi, Bluetooth or Infra-red, going wireless is truly a blessing as it prevents messy wire accidents ( spaghetti accidents as my friend calls it). So when USBGeek dropped this USB Bluetooth + IrDA Combo Adapter into my postbox, it was a great way to try out the bluetooth function on my wife’s Sony Ericsson T630. The Main unit comes with USB extension cable , a Driver CD and User Manual in a quite a big box.

I’m one of the weirdest gadget geeks around as I have not had the chance to really mess around with Bluetooth configurations and whatnots. So having this adapter plugged into my old Asus laptop meant that I could now sync the phone book on the Sony Ericsson T630. Plugging in was not a hassle but somehow when I pushed it in, there was no light on the LED. So I tried to pull it out a bit and voila ! a red LED appeared. Next, you’ll have to install the drivers on the small CD that comes with the package and you’ll get something called Blue Manager on your desktop once its done. Cool.

Well, to cut the story short, this 10M radius bluetooth connection is something that I have never experienced and the feeling is pure enjoyment. So far, there’s no dropped connections too and that means this adapter is reliable as it gets.

Watch out for my post on the Step 1150 Bluetooth Handsfree set in the coming few days.
