If the speed of 800MB from your IEEE 1394 (otherwise known as Firewire) ports does not give you a rush anymore, then fret not. USB 3.0 is coming soon to your PC or laptop or media player to make data transfers fly. If things are true, USB 3.0 will give you transfer speeds of up to 5 Gigs a second but you’d have to wait till 2010 (what ..two more years??) . Is that not an anti-climax ? To keep thing green, USB engineers will ensure the USB 3.0 will have greater levels of energy efficiency where it cuts the electricity portion of the plug when idle. Till then, I’ll still be hanging on to my old Asus laptop that has slowwwww USB 1.1 ports.
