Gadgets with TV Tuners

I am still waiting to get my hands on the UDM Portable Video Player with TV Tuner that I posted earlier and surfed at some China based websites. What I found is some cool China-made gadgets that also has the TV Tuner function built in and here’s a review of 3 of them.

1. MP4 player with TV & FM

This MP4 player with TV & FM is aptly called DV-768 made by Olym Technology Plus. Co. Ltd.

Its a Wireless FM Transmitter for Sound that lets you transmit the sound from DV-768 to car. It has a High Capacity HDD 30GB that stores 15 DVD movies, or 50 DIVX/MPEG4 movies , or 10000 MP3 music, or 30000 Digital Photos. The built-in TV tuner is great and you can download programs on the internet, then connect the DV-768 to the computer through the USB 2.0 connection.

The 7-inch LG TFT LCD has a resolution of 480×234(RGB) and the 30G HDD is made by Hitachi. The rechargeable Lithium battery plays for 3 hours continuously , with an included Slim infrared remote controller, all in a 191×143x23.5 mm package.

3. Dynaconnective Portable Video Player, TV Tuner & MP3 Player All-In-One

This player is based on a version from Korean company NEOSOL called the RunPo.

The portable video player has a built-in EL display with a resolution of 521×218 pixels. It has a built-in 1 inch 5GB hard drive and can play MPEG-4 SP, WMV9, AVI (XviD), AVI (CIF) and ASF formats. The maximum resolution for playback of MPEG-4 SP/ASF/AVI/XviD files is 720×480 pixels. As for AVI(CIF) and WMV9 files, it’s 352×288 pixels.

Further, the RunPo has a built-in TV tuner, and extending the antenna turns the device into a portable TV. The RunPo can also record TV, and with the built-in composite/analog line in cable, can record TV at a resolution of 352×240 pixels. The RunPo records TV in MPEG-4(ASF) format and has three recording modes to choose from: fine, normal and economy. In fine mode, the RunPo can record up to 7~8 hours of TV, in normal mode it can record up to 10 hours and in economy mode it can record an incredible 33 hours of TV.

The battery lasts up to 2 hours with playback of video files. The RunPo connects to a PC via USB 2.0. When connected, it behaves as a USB storage class device and does not require any special software to transfer movie or music files from the computer to the device. The outer dimensions of the unit are 119×69x20mm with a weight of 145 grams.
