Nickel in Cell Phones Causes Rash, Study Finds

After all the hoopla over potentially brain-cancer inducing cell phone radiation, another medical condition may place the telecom industry on the defensive.
The British Association of Dermatologists (humorously abbreviated as BAD) has found that mobiles may be a potential cause of an “unexplained” rash that presents itself on the victim’s ears and cheeks. These areas, which are obviously in contact with cell phones a lot of times, may be reacting to the presence of nickel on the gadgets’ case. A particularly strong anecdote in support of this BAD assumption (sorry, couldn’t resist) was the story of a patient who suffered from rashes, went nickel-free, and improved.
Whether or not BAD’s theory is true, expect this dermatological issue to gain more attention than the classic cell-phones-cause-brain-cancer issue. After all, brain cancer my be devastating, but it’s not as superficial as a facial rash. (image from technologyexpert.blogspot.com)

Hello i have an allergy to nickel and for years i had to be careful with certain buckles, belts and Jewelry and i am just realizing that my cell phone is responsible for causing a rash on my face. I think bc there are several people out there with this allergy that it should be known when you buy a cell phone what it is made out of. I never would have guessed until i read an article in Prevention. Glad i know now.
