Optimus keyboard

Without a doubt, this is going to be the coolest keyboard you have ever seen. Forget gimmicks like ergonomic design and wireless accessibility, this keyboard talks about putting displays on each key. When it’s used as a normal keyboard, it displays the character set of the chosen language, and while it’s used as a gaming device, it can be programmed to show the shortcut keys. Instead of the number “2″, you see flame thrower icon. The best thing is that its powered by open source software !

Now if I play Leisure Suit games, I could get lots of bikini gals on the keys too. Optimus keyboard gets my thumbs up !

Keytop displays are 20 pixels by 20 pixels, in monochrome. The keyboard runs on USB 2.0, and comes with desktop software comprising five main user components: a Layout Editor, a Display Editor, a Gallery, a Command Editor and an Image Converter. [...]

  2. [...] The Russian designer Art Lebedev Studio, which last year captured the attention of geeks around the universe with the cool Optimus keyboard, has introduced a scaled-down version called the Optimus Mini Three, an auxiliary keypad with three keys, each with a colour OLED (organic light-emitting diode) screen displaying a programmable function.
