With water prices going up everywhere ( imminent in Malaysia) and humans becoming impatient, it was only reasonable to find someone designing a washing machine that does not need water and only uses negative ions, compressed air and deodorants to clean clothes. Now that’s a quick wash-and-wear concept and I get to blog more and even go jogging. Thanks to Wendy and Chua for making washing laundry a faster chore.
A waterless washing machine that removes stains from garments in a few minutes has been developed at the National University of Singapore, the facility said on Wednesday. The appliance uses negative ions, compressed air and deodorants to clean clothes. Industrial design students Wendy Chua, 21, and Gabriel Tan, 23, said they were inspired by the technology in air purifiers, which uses negative ions to clump dirt and bacteria, making it easier for the particles to be sucked out. The ions are a natural cleaning agent.

wow…this is a big stuff….real cool
It would be great to embed this machine to a wardrobe – no need to spend time and place in the room.
Singapore is famous for its industrial designs.i have never heard this waterless washing machine before.but i know Haier has invented a detergentless washing machine the name of the product is Haier WashH20.actually stain removing is the most common problem among all of us and people are impatient to grab this appliance and i hope the laundry is hygienically perfect in every respect.thanks to Chua & Tan for this cute invention.and you colbert for the post.:)
OK, so really it’s just a form of dry cleaner. Dry cleaning has been around for some time. Looks good though, and certainly green, since it is not using water. I’d like to see how effectively it really cleans the clothes though.
