Check out the new 3G smartphone from Sony Ericsson, the M600. It is powered by a Symbian 9.1 OS with a UIQ 3.0 interface. Too bad its missing a camera that makes it a all-in-one smartphone. The QWERTY keypad layout is combined with the numbers on the front of the phone. It supports UMTS, has a 2.6″ QVGA touchscreen which supports resolution up to 240×320 pixels, has an internal memory of 80 MB with an option to expand it with the Memory Stick Micro and Bluetooth. And finally, it has the options to edit Office files like PowerPoint, Word, Excel and a viewer for PDF files.
A 3-way jog dial is integrated on the side of the handset to allow users to scroll through your compatible Blackberry Connect, Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync, Visto, Seven and IntelliSync, POP and IMAP e-mail lists. At the base of the handset, a dock connector is available which can charge the battery and sync to your computer via USB 2.0.

I think the lack of a camera is not a loss. Cameras on phones may be popular but currently it’s more of a fad. Phones and PDAs have natural overlap (manage contacts, call a contact, etc.) Cameras and PDAs have much less overlap and correlation in functionality. I’d be happy to see more phones without cameras. I simply find them annoying and useless.
