Linuxdevices.com on 17 March 2006 confirmed that the SONY Playstation 3 (SONY PS3) console will ship with LINUX as its operating system, and will not only be a gaming console but a productivity console as well! (as if we use PS3s to work) Think of your SONY Playstation 3 console now as a router, storage device, wifi console. Hopefully they won’t follow Linksys’ footsteps by shying away from Linux in their v5 WRT54G wireless routers as before.
Additionally, the PS3 will have network interfaces, and will avail users of network-based services such as “matchmaking, messaging, rankings, friends lists, voice/video chat, in-game shopping, and game downloads,” according to 1up.

this is cool, can’t wait to grab one!
Great it gives me more time to start saving up for christmas.
it looks amazing i just need a big tv to compliment the ps3.
I cant understand why they have done this.
