You may have already seen this: a video of a teen adolescent hurting himself over Modern Warfare 2. Disturbingly, the more this kid gets angry over Modern Warfare 2’s suckiness (I disagree by the way), the more he lashes out physically, finally taking out the camera towards the end.

There are obvious questions over the video’s authenticity, whether it was the psychologically-abnormal rant or an actor practicing his craft in other words. Regardless, this video is simply too creepy, keeping my natural penchant for schadenfreude whimpering under the covers. That’s what a real bleeding wound (from all appearances) and tear-filled, nearly-incomprehensible rage does to a viewer. What do you think? This is simply too true to be fake in my opinion. And in any case, a friend theorizes the raging speaker was totally frustrated with failing at MW2’s multiplayer, and this isn’t the first time I’ve heard someone rage over MW2’s apparently cutthroat multiplayer environment, weird or not.Source

If you’re wondering how the Philippines will automate its own elections come 2010, here are some videos showing the automated systems in action:

If you haven’t noticed, the “automated” in this elections actually involves the tabulation of votes, not the actual casting of votes. Voters will be given pre-printed ballots, where they will mark their preferred candidates by shading the circles under the names of their choice. Ballots are then fed into a voting district counting machine, where votes are automatically tallied and forwarded to municipal and national servers. The counting machines will transmit election returns encrypted, and will print out eight copies for the various political parties and voting watchdogs to cross-check manually.

In case you haven’t noticed, the election automation involves Smartmatic International, which has implemented automated elections in the US, Mexico, Venezuela, Barbados, Spain, Taiwan, and of course the Philippines. It has faced controversy while handling the 2004 recall vote in Venezuela, so local agents have stepped up a campaign to educate the electorate and convince them of the process’ integrity at bagongbotante.ph.

Have you ever cast your votes through an automated system? Feel free to share your experience below.

What I do like about the video is how it whets my appetite for Nokia’s new flagship, with shiny and carefully-cultivated cinematography, including shots of the phone in action. Even world-beater Nokia thinks the random artsy-fartsy online video will attract more attention to its upcoming Nokia N97 “the making” video:

What I do like about the video is how it whets my appetite for Nokia’s new flagship, with shiny and carefully-cultivated cinematography, including shots of the phone in action. But even better is the clearly inclusive approach of Nokia; no Jobsian snobbery to be found here. The ultimate implication—this phone is so cool because it lets you do practically anything, and not because it makes you stand out—kinda plays like the anti-thesis of Apple’s simplistic branding.

Nokia should keep one thing in mind though: if they’re going to push for “Internet everywhere”, sister company Nokia Siemens Networks (an infrastructure provider) had better cover the globe with its cell sites!

Not bad at all. For a 3.15 megapixel camera, the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1’s built-in snapper is quite capable. At least that’s what images over at USEB present:
I was really surprised by how good the camera in X1 actually is. The quality is rather high, and I haven’t experienced either annoying or serious white balance or colour problems. Sure, there are a few ones with a purple tint, but this is a seldom sight that’s hardly of any annoyance to me.

Writer Michell should’ve also tried snapping shots in really poor conditions, like a smoke-filled bar. The daytime images are very decent, although some light graininess makes super clarity virtually impossible. In any case, take a look at the full collection here.
