The Sarah Palin Xbox 360: Worth $1.1M?

Now this is definitely not confirmed, but eBay seller David Morrill (dmorrill321) is trying to sell an Xbox 360 purportedly signed by Sarah Palin. The price? $1.1 million.

Personally, why would I pay that much for an Xbox 360, even if really did bear the signature of the 2008 vice presidential candidate? Maybe I’d be willing to spend more than a million dollars if it was say, the Xbox 360 of Abraham Lincoln, but I’m not exactly rolling in money here.

Is Sarah Palin even aware of this auction, which ends on the 15th? As proof, Morrill narrates driving three days from his hometown of Alberta, Canada. He was able to push my “way through the crowd” and get Palin to sign his Xbox, while someone he knew took a photo of the event. According to him, she said it was “the most extravagant thing she had ever been asked to sign”.You can find the “Sarah Palin Signed Xbox 360″ here.

For reference, an Xbox 360 typically retails for $299.

XBox 360 Messenger Kit Still Relevant to Users?

It’s not really a new product, but the Xbox 360 Messenger Kit may be a good deal for console gamers who miss the easy text input capabilities of the PC. Basically it’s a bundle of the chatpad that plugs into any official Xbox controller, plus the wired Xbox 360 headset. The kit retails for $30 on the Xbox website, but as always there are discounts available from other retailers. More data and another pic for those who continue reading.

PS3 Marketing Arguments Help Opposing Forces

Someone’s head might be rolling over at the PlayStation 3’s manufacturer. Apparently to build more interest in the gaming console (which has fare relatively poorly against the Xbox 360 and Wii), someone sent Joystiq an email declaring that the PS3 provides better value for money, while the Xbox 360 and Wii of course, do not:

The informercial-esque message — titled “Keeping Entertainment Simple” — made our day with colorful accusations, including one that the Xbox 360 “requires … multiple upgrades and additional external devices, putting a burden on the wallet and adds clutter to the entertainment center.” That clutter would be the Wireless Network Adapter, which snaps onto the back of the 360, we suppose. So cluttery!

Judging from the reaction of the staff of Joystiq—a widely read gaming blog—it’s obvious that Sony’s PR blast did more harm than good. In any case, if cash wasn’t a consideration, but you had to choose only one gaming console to use for the next year or so, which one would you choose?
