Commenter Steve Jabs shares:
So here’s the deal. The liquidators seem to have finally got their crap in order. Well… sort of.
Today I bought a Nikon D40 for $350. That is about $60 off of most other stores. Here’s the catch at CC though. While it was listed as 30% off it was marked up.. still… to $499.99. While I saved money, and I am happy with that, I made sure I was still getting a good deal on it.
The best deal hands down in the store was XBox 360s. You can get the $299.99 version for $240. That is sweet. If I didn’t already own one I would have been all over that instead.
It is definitely a let down for the employees at the store and I feel genuinely bad for them. The guy who sold me my camera today was top notch and a really swell dude. He warned me of the shit the liquidators were pulling and he and I exchanged conversation with another person about his future and what his plans were.
The biggest drawback that he said that he has had so far are customers calling the cops on the store. Seriously. Despite the fact that there are like 50 signs saying that no returns are accepted and all sales are final, people were calling the cops on the store because something they bought was broken or not what they expected. He had to deal with 4 instances today alone.
Either way. There are finally some deals to be had. Jump on it quick though. The only lappies and cameras left pretty much are floor models. So choose wisely and be nice to the sales guy, he’ll do the best he can to help you out.

Ooooo! 30% off MSRP that no one ever paid to begin with! Give me a break.
I’m sorry, but I just don’t see that 30% off MSRP can be called a liquidation. Many stores have had 70% off sales and remain in business.
I have read accounts of individual stores’ last day where prices were actually slashed to what the average person would call “liquidation” levels, but, thanks to the Internet, we all now know that liquidation companies are not out to move product out the door, but to sell product for the highest price they can get, sometimes higher than the product sold for originally or higher than others are currently selling it for.
Glad to see Circuit City Go!
They SUCK!
