Webcomics Every Geek Should Read

It would be real boring if we spent the whole day online drooling over the newest gadgets and their respective specs. And totally unrealistic, as new developments don’t come zooming into our lives at such a fast pace.
Which is why the internet isn’t only about reading up on the latest tech. You’ve got entertainment, particular online gaming and of course, webcomics. They’re great because, following the typical online business model, they provide value to the customer while being free, banking on advertising revenue to stay afloat (in most cases). From the new mainstream to quirky gems, here are some comics geeks everywhere should be reading.
- Penny Arcade – Big enough to give rise to PEX, which has become the gaming convention in the US, and a series of video games.
- PvP – The fact that Scott Kurtz can produce on a daily basis (with the help of guest artists sometimes) and still be entertaining is amazing.
- VG Cats – A (sadly) rarely updated webcomic that became famous for its hilarious take on in-game situations, and its creator’s tiff with the infamous Jack Thompson.
- Concerned – The now concluded comic amused by realistically rendering humorous situations in the Half-Life 2 universe. Showcases the versatility of the Source engine.
- The Perry Bible Fellowship – It takes a modern sense of humor (as far as I’m concerned) to truly understand this comic. Too bad its creator is on indefinite break.
- Buttersafe – You can feel the geeky love absurdity and unconventionalism emanating from most of this webcomic’s installments.
