Why Jack Thompson Won’t Go Away

Amazing! Yesterday I kinda mentioned Jack Thompson. Turns out today is the day his ejection from the Florida bar association becomes official!
No doubt, gamers are celebrating. But they all chuckled as Jack Thompson’s aggressively stupid statements stripped him of political allies, and kept him away from the ears of those with power to wield.
But then again, is this the end of Jack Thompson? I think not. What’s to stop him from passing the bar in some other state, and regaining the privilege to call himself lawyer once again?
You can argue that he’s lost some clout. But not being a lawyer won’t keep Jack Thompson quiet. For every kook with a crazy message, there’s always someone crazier willing to listen—and take the message seriously.

The fact that I am no longer a member with The Bar has absolutely nothing to do with what I am doing and what I will continue to do. Sorry to disappoint you gamers. Jack Thompson
Amazing! He did it to you too! I can’t believe JT has so much time on his hands to go around commenting on random blogs. He hit me two days ago: http://thelobbyist.net/lobby/archives/643
I think he is Google News or backtype.com searching his name every day out of some reasoning to defend his name. Case in point, you weren’t even bad mouthing him. Neither was I. You were just commenting that he would continue to work, disbarred or not.
Definitely a hard worker. No doubt he believes that regulation is necessary. We just don’t see eye to eye.
This may be a generalization, but it seems like those who want to regulate things are those who have little or no understanding of what they’re trying to regulate!
