Here’s our own special Star Trek related promo, as promised yesterday: get a chance to win the Star Trek Messenger bag pictured above!
So how can you enter?
Over the next week two weeks, just leave a comment here about the new Star Trek movie and what you think about it. Will it revive the currently moribund franchise? Or doom Gene Roddenberry’s creation for good?
Say whatever you want, just play nice, stay relevant, and please use your real email when you comment! Only US residents may participate, while comments received after 10:00 PM, March 21 (PST) will not be considered.
I will choose the best comment (based on my subjective judgment) and email its author for his or her delivery address. If for some reason I can’t declare my first pick as the winner (ineligibility, does not reply, etc.), I will move on to my next pick, and so on and so forth. Contest starts today; good luck!

I have been a trekker since seeing tne first show in 1966. My problem with the new movie is the going back in time thing. When this is the case it usually tends to be a little lame I hope I’m wrong. My other problem is that I’m not a big fan of Quinto as Spock. Classic trek fan forever!!
Now that is an awesome bag.. Please enter me
I’m really looking forward to it, I think they made a good choice with the actors portraying the Younger Versions of the characters we were so fond of (or not so fond of!).
The movie is going to be the blockbuster of the summer, what a great way to show the launching and first mission of the Enterprise
I am kind of on the fence about the new movie. I am not sure how die-hard Star Trek fans will embrace it. It very well could be the doom Gene Roddenberry’s creation. Hard core fans will always be just that…hard core fans, they will stick around forever, the good, the bad and the ugly. In the mean time there will always all those DVD sets to buy…
It’s not all that frequent that a sequel can match the original and the more sequels that are made… well, maybe it is time to beam up after all.
I love star trek and I would so much love to win this.
My boyfriend has been a Star Trek fan for as long as he can remember. He says that Star Trek is a major part of the American tradition. It’s continued success has inspired many generation to look into space exploriation and was influential in getting the space lab placed into space. He would love to have this messenger bag and I am sure that he would use it and not sell it on eBay.
I think it will be a good movie.
There are a LOT of trekkies out there, I am sure this movie will be seen and talked about for a long time. There will be so much hype and talk about this movie, those non-trekkies will have no choice but to see this movie.
My brother in law is a huge Trek fan and would love this
Trekies droole over bags like this. My high tech gadgets need a messenger bag.
This movie has to be amazingly awesome – the cast is ridiculously good. Compared to the original cast, there is a lot more acting talent. I love the original actors, but they were a bit campy. Quinto has proven he’s extremely talented through Heroes, and Pegg, Bana, and Urban are all stars in their own right. Plus, they’re four of my favorite actors.
Star Trek is everything a Trekkie could ask for – one of the best directors alive, an ensemble cost, and a budget that will allow the special effects to be far better than any of the past series or films. What more do you want?
I have high hopes for the movie..but then again, I’ve loved the series since the franchise began!
I think if it’s done well, it’s great because it will introduce a new generation to the franchise but if it’s done poorly, it’ll just be laughable and could damage the franchise.
The new Star Trek movie is Awesome with a capital “A”! All the places it takes you in your mind makes for a delightful treat of events and travel. I used to not even like Star Trek yrs ago but my husband got me to thinking otherwise now, thank you! skyxsky27(at)gmail.com
I have not seen the new Star trek movie! It’s on the otp of my to do list!
I am an old trekie at heart!
I haven’t seen it, but I hope it gets people interested in Star Trek again.
I think the new movie looks great! I’m sure it will be a wonderful updated version!
As a Star Trek fan I can only hope that the latest iteration of the franchise will take it’s cue from other recent SciFi remakes (i.e. Battlestar Galactica) and produce a film that is less a cartoon version, and more of a layered, substantive, and sophisticated exercise in storytelling…from my lips to Spock’s ears (or at least the writers ears !!!)
I have am really excited about what i have seen of the new movie. I do hope it will rekindle the star trek fan drive.
