WinCE InfoJack malware on Windows Mobile Devices

Windows Mobile device owners beware. There’s a new trojan software that targets Windows Mobile devices and it installs without a warning.

WinCE/InfoJack sends the infected device’s serial number, operating system and other information to the author of the trojan. It also leaves the infected mobile device vulnerable by allowing silent installation of malware. The trojan modifies the infected device’s security setting to allow unsigned applications to be installed without a warning.

  1. Dan says:

    I find very suspicious that in the same week that Norton and McAfee announces that their antivirus software is ready for mobile phones, that the first ever virus is found for WinCe devices.

  2. Madcap Magician says:

    Wow, spooky stuff Dan!! You probably believe in space ships too which means ET was phoning home on a Windows Mobile phone. Norton and McAfee have had mobile security out for a while now. Remember Bud Good is Mr. Big….lol

  3. Coincidence maybe; maybe not. Any solution to remove it? So, whoever got the print screen actually had his/her mobile infected with the virus? Considering the characters are in Chinese, so, does it affect English units?

  4. erebus says:

    InfoJack is not the first wince virus

  5. TOCA says:

    @erebus
    No, but it’s the first one spottet “in the wild”, if it at all was spottet. All other known WinCE/WinMobile malwares have so far been “Proof of concept” lab rats.
