Would You Pay for .Tel Presence?

The following ad has got it all: a beautiful woman, a funny story, a winner, and a loser:

It conveys a point quickly: sign-up for a .tel account, and you’ll be able to give hot chicks your number quickly, and at anytime. Or in other words, make sure that other .tel users can easily access your contact info no matter how many times you change that. More details here.

The problem is, I’m not really keen on paying 15 euros for a .tel account, but only because I already enjoy a clear web identity via rico.mossesgeld.com. On other hand, signing up for a .tel account would save me from having to fix up my own website, something I’ve been putting off for some time now. Unfortunately, rico.tel is no longer available.

Nice blog post, first of all don’t pay 15 Euro for a .tel, that’s like 20 USD.
Go to name.com and get a .tel for 8.95 USD, that’s like 6 Euro for a year.

There is also more than just getting a .tel to give your name to hot chicks. From what I have seen .tel has more under the hood than just being a contact page. Already a very powerful application has been made using .tel, check out http://cancel.tel it’s a site that can be used with mobile phones for people to report the loss or theft of their credit card. If you are out somewhere and lost your card you just remember the word cancel and you can instantly call your card company and have your credit card cancelled. Things like that can save people time, money and a lot of hassle and that is something that .tel also has in store. The hot chicks are great but it can be used for more.

  2. Ah, thanks for the info. Would you know what other tremendously useful apps are available via the .tel interface?
