Preakness News: Girl Power

A plot to deny Rachel Alexandra a spot in the Preakness was foiled on Sunday.

The drama centered around Zayat Stable (Pioneerof The Nile), Mark Allen (co-owner Mine That Bird), and Marylou Whitney (Luv Gov). It was basically an ill-fated collusion attempt by rich owners to keep Rachel on the sidelines.

All parties have seemingly come to their senses, and the talented filly is a go for the second jewel.

Rachel worked on Sunday morning, and she completed her four panel move in :48-2/5.  It was a solid drill, and she appears to be on target for the Preakness.

Undefeated Derby Trial winner Hull uncorked a :59 and change bullet, and Terrain breezed five furlongs (1:02-3/5) in company at Churchill.

Over at Belmont, Take The Points drilled five panels in a minute flat. The Todd Pletcher runner was last seen finishing 4th behind Pioneerof The Nile in the Santa Anita Derby.

Speaking of The Nile , he will have his final Preakness move Monday morning, and Derby show finisher Musket Man will work in New Jersey on Tuesday.

Friesan Fire will work at Pimlico on Tuesday, and that move will decide his Preakness status.
