Wednesday (12-10-08) Hollywood Park preview

Wednesday’s 8-race card features a Pick 6 (races 3-8) carryover of $146,154, and a Super High 5 (race carryover of $61,093.

Wednesday’s (12-10-08) MySpace free selection of the day is the 6th race from Hollywood.

The 2nd race, a starter allowance route, is featured below.

Hollywood Park race 2 (Str-Alw, f&m 3up, 8.5f)

(1) Aquicksting (5-2) – Inside speed has weakened in both starts versus winners.

(2) Salah Pick Six (4-1) – Tries a route of ground after dueling and weakening versus similar 7f foes.

(3) It’s Gotta Be Us (15-1) – Has lost five straight since winning Del Mar sprint bow.

(4) Overtime Victory (5-1) – Improving late runner graduated in 6th start at this course/distance last time.

(5) Scorewithcater (7-2) – Sharp maiden win last out.

(6) Beau Gris (2-1) – Cerin 24% 1st route. More speed.

Analysis: Scorewithcater was claimed out of her last by 18% 1st off claim trainer Doug O’Neill. She graduated nicely with blinkers last time and should sit a nice trip behind the speed. Rosario sticks, and he’s 24% with this barn.

The $20 Play:

$20 to win Scorewithcater

Daily Wager recap

Sunday (12-07-08): Baroness Thatcher chased longshot winner Briecat from the outset and finished a weakening 4th.

Overall: (-97.40) through 30 days of the Hollywood Park fall meet.

Thursday (11-27-08) Hollywood Park recap
Cushion Track played fair with a trio of 8.5 furlong wire jobs.
Garrett Gomez booted home a pair, and Marcelo Polanco saddled two winners on the Thanksgiving Day card.
Nice confidence boosting maiden win for Oro Blanco in the opener. She has been competitive versus winners and will likely return to the stakes ranks shortly. Nice comeback win for Bsharpsonata in the Playa del Rey. That was her first start for Pletcher, and bigger things are on the horizon. Prompt fav Slew’s Tiznow easily captured the War Chant for Bejarano/O’Neill.

Friday (11-28-08) Hollywood Park preview

Friday’s 10-race card kicks off the 3-day turf festival and features the Grade 3 Miesque (race 6) & Grade 1 Citation (race 8).

There is a Pick 6 carryover of $79,919 (races 5-10), and a Super High 5 carryover of $46,270 (race 10).

The Grade 3 Miesque is my MySpace free selection of the day.

The 8th race, the Grade 1 Citation Handicap, is featured below.

Hollywood Park race 8 (Grade 1 Citation Handicap, 3up, 8.5T)

(1) Hyperbaric (3-1) – Owns fine early/pressing speed. Consistent gelding shoots for four straight wins.

(2) Galantas (20-1) – Tactical speed and graded stakes placed.

(3) Ferneley (12-1) – Exits sharp optional claiming score. Flopped in both US graded tries.

(4) Lord Admiral (12-1) – Late running 7yo horse has failed in last two US starts.

(5) Becrux (20-1) – Got back on beam for new trainer Sadler over synthetic. Has back class but is not fond of this turf course.

(6) Rebellion (6-1) – Late runner exits 2nd in BC Dirt Mile. Seems most effective around one turn.

(7) Medici Code (15-1) – Exits much needed allowance prep. Appears best at Del Mar.

(8) Proudinsky (6-1) – Tailed off in last pair. 3rd in softer edition of this race last year.

(9) Whatsthescript (5-2) – 3rd in Breeders’ Cup Mile (YouTube replay below). Packs strong late kick.

(10) Formal Decree (9-2) – Exits sharp graded Belmont win. Versatile and dangerous.

Analysis: There is not a ton of pace in the paper race, and sharp New York invader Formal Decree might take it to these from the outset. He looked good in latest score, and place finisher Strike A Deal came back to win a graded event. Hyperbaric always runs his race and should sit a great ground saving tracking trip. Whatsthescript is the one to fear late, along with Rebellion.

The $20 Play:
$14 to win Formal Decree
$6 quinella Hyperbaric/Formal Decree

Daily Wager recap

Thursday (11-27-08): Did not have Bsharpsonata in the co-feature.

Overall: (-126.40) through 22 days of the Hollywood Park fall meet.

Friday night’s 8-race card features a 2-day Pick 6 carryover of $251,712 (races 3-8).

My MySpace free selection of the day is the 2nd race from Hollywood Park.

The 5th race, an allowance turf sprint, is featured below.

Hollywood Park race 5 (Alw-49k, f&m 3up, 6T)

(1) R Charlie’s Angel (20-1) – Failed to fire in lone turf outing. Currently off form. Inside speed.

(2) Woodland City (3-1) – Drops out of the stakes ranks. 0-4 in this country. Early/pressing speed for Gomez/Sadler.

(3) Ransom Captive (5-1) – Both wins this year in local turf routes. Rallied to finish 3rd in a pair of downhill sprints earlier this year.

(4) Electro Nuclear (9-2) – Stakes dropper 0-3 stateside. Rosario abandons.

(5) Shermeen (12-1) – Rosario ends up here. 0-4 local turf record. Walsh 25% 2nd off layoff.

(6) Pat the Cool Cat (6-1) – The other Sadler has not been seen since Feb. 10th. Capable turf sprinter can fire fresh.

(7) Moonshine Alice (6-1) – Frankel has the Tampa transplant now. Adds speed to the lineup.

(8) Wickednwackyingrid (12-1) – Another speedster. Part of trifecta in 5 of 6 turf starts.

(9) Lettre Spirituelle (4-1) – French invader training well for US bow. Bejarano hops aboard. Note 0-6 turf record.

Analysis: This turf sprint distance has seen 3 wire jobs in 15 attempts, with early/pressing types winning 10 times overall. Outer posts are winning more than expected, and off the pace types have been going well recently.

Ransom Captive gets some pace to chase, and Hollendorfer is 24% with this type of layoff runner. She drops out of the stakes ranks and cuts back in distance. Lettre Spirituelle invades for the low profile Jean Pierre Dupuis, and the mysterious type could surprise. Shermeen attracts the recently hot Rosario and will be finishing at a price.

The $20 Play:

$14 to win Ransom Captive
$4 quinella Ransom Captive-Lettre Spirituelle
$2 quinella Ransom Captive-Shermeen

Daily Wager recap

Thursday (11-20-08): Hit all suggested bets with key horse Stretchinthelimits. $2 win payoff was $9.80, and we had that four times. Exacta with Perfect Magic came back $12 for a buck, and we had it four times. $2 Quinella paid $10.80, and we nailed that four times as well. Net profit of $110.40 for the $20 worth of wagers.

Overall deficit reduced to (-129.60) through 17 days of the Hollywood Park fall meet.

7) Aromatica (20-1) – Won two furlong bow and faltered in local 5.5f stakes race when last seen in May.

(8) Trash Master (8-1) – Versatile sort claimed from Sadler for $50k. New trainer Hector Palma adds blinkers.

(9) Steam Iron (12-1) – Another exiting below par starter allowance victory.

Analysis: This Cushion Track distance favors early pressing types from inner to middle posts. Stretchinthelimits defeated today’s morning line fav Perfect Magic in her bow, and Mike Mitchell is 28% with his graduates trying winners for the first time. She could sit the right ground saving trip behind a few suspect speedsters. Perfect Magic has the benefit of a sharp race over the track for Bejarano/Sadler.

The $20 Play:

$8 to win Stretchinthelimits

$4 exacta Stretchinthelimits-Perfect Magic

$8 quinella Stretchinthelimits-Perfect Magic

Daily Wager recap

Wednesday (11-19-08): Finished 3-1 in my suggested cold exacta.

Overall: (-240) through 15 days of the Hollywood Park fall meet.
