We are down to the final seven days of the Del Mar meet, and the new month kicks off a Pick 6 carryover of more than $168k.
The Pick 6 begins in the 4th race. Launch The Bull (5-2) and The Whammer (3-1) head a field of ten maiden sprinters. Ringolevio (4-1) and Unbridled Papillon (6-1) also figure to attract support.
The 5th race a claiming sprint for the ladies, and Wada Falls (3-1) is the morning line fav in the wide open 10-horse field.
Saarface is an early scratch in the 6th, and AE Gilligan (6-1) could still draw in with another …read more

The 2009 Del Mar season has arrived, and I am going to cover the Pick 6 on a daily basis.
My daily Pick 6 analysis can be found on pick6blog.com.
In addition to analysis, I will be including tickets using the Daily Racing Form’s Ticket Maker program.
As I mentioned in my opening day post, I will tread lightly until track bias and jockey/trainer information comes into focus. In the meantime, I will use 2008 track trends to help construct my tickets.
Also, I will be updating posts during each raceday, so check back often. It is going to be an exciting seven weeks!

Del Mar recap (July 26th)
Double digit winners (no winning favs) ruled the day at Del Mar. The late Pick 4 paid $200k, and the Pick 6 carryover is now over a cool $1.5 million. A pair of wins for Michael Baze…
Race 9: Storm Mesa is the real deal for Bret Calhoun. She was on a rapid pace but was wisely wrangled back to 6th by Eddie Martin Jr. She moved out around the turn and into the stretch and mowed down Tasha’s Miracle like a good thing. She has handled everything thrown at her (sprints, routes, turf, dirt), and they …read more

Del Mar review (July 25th)
I have been hot with my free racingonthenet selections at Del Mar, and I kept the streak going with Matlow 2nd timer Tammy’s Luck ($18.80).
The Wickerr Handicap was impossibly close with pacesetter One Union nostrilizing four others, including a very unlucky and surging Awesome Gem.
Nobody came up with all six in a tough sequence, so the Pick 6 carryover going into the Saturday (July 26th) program has reached $540,093.

July 24th Del Mar recap
Polytrack was fair once again. A stalker and a closer won the two turf routes. Bejarano booted home a pair.
In yesterday’s preview blog, I said that In The Forecast ($8.60) was Kaffeinator’s most likely upsetter in the opener, and they ran 1-2 all the way around the oval.
Synthetic specialist Doppio ($10.20) beat a quality field in the optional claiming feature. Arson Squad was flopping for the 6th time on fake dirt…he so needs conventional dirt. Peace Chant (2nd) looked like the winner turning for home.

A trio of wire jobs in 4 sprints, and a pair of off the pace winners at a flat mile made up the Polytrack winners on Monday at Del Mar. The turf route was was by an off the pace type, and the 5f turf sprint was nabbed by an early/pressing runner.
Bejarano and Rosario both booted home a pair, and keep an eye on NoCal trainer Bill Morey. He saddled a winner in Sunday’s finale, and he struck again in Monday’s 3rd. Garrett Gomez got back on the beam with 5th race winner Lady Schnapps.

Del Mar review (July 20th)
Day 5 of the Del Mar meet is in the books, and I had a very productive day selling the Sunday (July 20th) full card. Got four on-top winners, including 2 of my 3 bests bets home as well as the late Pick 4.
Polytrack continues to play fair. Five sprint races were run, and the winners came from all over the place (wire, stalk, late). We had a wire job and couple of late runners take the three turf races carded.
Bejarano booted home both stakes winners, and Russell Baze got the candy in the …read more

Day 4 of the Del Mar meet is in the books, and the Pick 6 was nailed despite a huge upset in the Osunitas Hcp by 43-1 outsider Zardana (Gryder/McAnally). Main track continues to play fair, with the route races favoring speed on Saturday, and patient runners doing best in sprints. Stalkers and off the pace types held the advantage on the sod. Eoin Harty and John Sadler both saddled a pair of winners, and Aaron Gryder pulled off the hat trick…

Polytrack played fair on Friday (7-18-08) with a pair of wire jobs (sprints) to end the day. Clifford Sise saddled a pair of winners on the card, and Tyler Baze rode both…
Race 3: It was bombs away in the opening leg of the Pick 6, as FTS Lucky Mite ($101.20) came from off the pace to post a rather easy 1-1/4 length tally. Brice Blanc rode for Michael Pender. As expected, there is a Pick 6 carryover going into the Saturday program…$135,144.
