<p>Off the turf following Thursday&#8217;s winter event. Good main track played fair. Middle to outer posts best with wide moves around the far turn the frequent path to victory. </p>
<p>James Graham and Brian Hernandez Jr. both booted home a pair. </p>
<p>Arctic Jet ($198.60) helped create yet another <strong>Pick 6 carryover. </strong></p>
<p>Churchill invader <strong>Precious Kiss</strong> (Jacinto/Mouton) was a sharp going away winner of the optional claiming 9th. </p>
<p><strong>Saturday (12-13-08) Fair Grounds preview</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://www.louisianabred.com/news/racing-news.shtml#champs1">Louisiana Champions Day</a> comprises Saturday&#8217;s 11-race card and includes a trio of Quarter Horse stakes events to kick off the festivities. </p>
<p><strong>Weather:</strong> Partly sunny. High 64. </p>
<p><strong>Races 1-2-3 </strong>(Quarter Horse Juvenile, Derby, Classic): In the Quarter Horse Juvenile, <strong>Toast To Jess</strong> is the 3-1 fav and one to beat. In the 400 yard Derby sharp filly <strong>McM Dont Look Back</strong> goes for 5 straight wins. In the 440 yard Classic,<strong> McM Dozen Dasher</strong> is probably the one to catch. </p>
<p><strong>Race 4 ($50k Starter Handicap):</strong> First thoroughbred race carded. <strong>Autobeacat </strong>is the 9-5 morning line fav, but note that he is also entered in the Turf and Classic later in the day. </p>
<p><strong>Race 5 ($100k Ladies):</strong> The talented mare Tortuga Flats is entered here and the Turf. She loves to win races and must always be respected. My <a href="http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&#038;friendID=178381150&#038;blogID=456008768">MySpace </a>free selection of the day. </p>
<p><strong>Race 6 ($100k Juvenile):</strong> Pick 6 starts here with a carryover of $11,098. <strong>Foreign Production</strong> is the deserving favorite and Pick 6 single on many tickets. Below is a <strong>YouTube replay</strong> of his last race. </p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/_SNoGGCcr08&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/_SNoGGCcr08&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object></p>
<p><strong>Race 7 ($100k Ladies):</strong> Superior Storm is the fav breaking from the rail. She is 5-7 this year and won 4 straight before finishing 2nd in her local sprint prep for this. </p>
<p><strong>Race 8 ($100k Lassie):</strong> Wide open race. 7-2 fav Seven Seventythree might be better on synthetic. </p>
<p><strong>Race 9 ($100k Turf):</strong> Three-year-old Lee&#8217;s Spirit is the 3-1 choice in a competitive turf event. <strong>Desert Wheat</strong> may end up favored following local main track stakes win<strong> (YouTube replay below),</strong> and he is better on turf anyway. </p>
<p><object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/CpcNdogvx5I&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/CpcNdogvx5I&#038;hl=en&#038;fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object><br />
<strong><br />
Race 10 ($150k Classic):</strong> Star Production is the favorite and one to catch. He received a much needed break following disappointing last place Super Derby finish. </p>
<p><strong>Race 11 ($100k Sprint):</strong> Star Guitar is 3-3 at Fair Grounds, and note that he is also entered in the Classic. Below is a <strong>YouTube replay</strong> of his Nov 23rd race. </p>

Main track played fair. The two turf races produced a wire job (5.5f sprint), and a stalk/pounce winner (8f).
Four more wins for leading rider Francisco Torres. Another winner for Cody Autrey, and his $$ rider Jamie Theriot was at Churchill, so Torres rode.
Foreign Production was a prominent throughout winner of the Old Hickory (31st running), and the 2yo dashed 5.5f panels in 1:04.84. C Karma rallied from last to take the 38th running of the Pontalba for 2yo fillies. 5.5f in 1:05.70.
