Big Brown went into the 2008 Kentucky Derby unbeaten and untested after three lifetime starts, and he kept his perfect record intact with another powerful victory.
The main knock on him going in was his lack of seasoning, and I was one of the skeptics, but the fleet colt overcame history and nineteen foes to win the derby convincingly.
The talented early/pressing type always has a chance because of his style, and that should prove beneficial with the Preakness and Belmont Stakes on the horizon.

The 2008 Kentucky Derby has finally arrived, and the electrifying Big Brown figures to go off as the post time favorite. The Dutrow trainee has been sensational in three facile victories to kick off his career. He drew post 20 and will probably try similar aggressive early tactics which lead to his Florida Derby triumph. If the talented three-year-old cannot get the job done because of a lack of seasoning, then Colonel John looms the logical choice.
