A thunderstorm rolled through early in the morning and knocked the races off the turf. Track upgraded to fast by 3rd race. A pair of sprint wire jobs, and the remaining seven races were nabbed by stalkers.
Hat trick for leading rider Don Simington. ‘Cisco Torres followed up his Friday hat trick with a riding double.

LAD Today – August 21st

August 20th Louisiana Downs Recap
Both surfaces seemed to play fair.
Curt Bourque booted home a pair, and Michelle Lovell saddled two turf winners on the card. She has had an awesome meet! Tony Richey and Al Stall Jr. saddled two winners on the card as well.
I was red hot with six tops getting the job done including bet down longshot play of the day Count On Lynn ($5.40) and best bet Rather Exciting ($6.20).
Apprentice jockey Anna Roberts hit the ground when her mount in the 3rd took a tumble after the race. She was taken off in a stretcher but was …read more

Louisiana Downs Rewind

August 8th Recap
Missed my Saturday recap from Louisiana Downs, so here it goes.
A pair of wire jobs on the main as early-pressing speed held the edge. Early/pressing types dominated on the turf. Both 7.5f grass races were nabbed in wire-to-wire fashion.
Hat trick for Ramsey Zimmerman included a pair with trainer Dallas Keen. Jose Riquelme booted home a pair.
Howdy Ho seemed like a vulnerable fav in the 4th. Granted, he had won two straight impressively, but he did not step up in class for his 2nd win, and he was trying tougher for his new trainer …read more

LAD This Weekend – July 11th

July 10th Louisiana Downs recap
Main favored early/pressing types early; fair late. A pair of wire jobs at 8.5f on the weeds.
My four-bagger streak ended as I got a pair of tops home on a tough Friday card. In the grassy 8th race, my best bet Messy Marvin had nowhere to roam along the inside in the stretch. Next time with clear sailing.
Sidney Lejeune Jr. booted home a pair. Michelle Lovell saddled two more winners.  She’s been hot all meet!

July 11th preview
Saturday’s 10-race card features four grass races and includes a Pick 6 carryover of $5,226.
Expectmoney (race 4) is my best …read more

Louisiana Downs Today

Week five of the Louisiana Downs meet starts on June 11th. Before I preview the Thursday card, let’s look back at the Sunday action.
June 7th recap
Early/pressing types dominated on the main. Turf course played fair.
Hat trick for Don Simington.
Stoney Gold stole the grassy 2nd under Lonnie Meche. My best bet Sligo Joe chased throughout , and I believe he could’ve been the wire job winner if Simington was more aggressive. Wildrally ran the best race under PVal. He rallied from last despite a lack of pace and missed the place by a 1/2 length. Tim Ice …read more
