Sloppy track and off the turf. Track seemed to play fair with a slight edge to stalkers.
Curt Bourque booted home a pair. Profitable trainer Gilbert Ciavaglia saddled two winners on the card.
Oneafternoon is sharp right now, and he finished a close-up 3rd in the opener despite not being at his best over a wet track. He will probably wheel back before the end of the meet, which wraps up on October 4th.
Cowboy Cadillac is best as an off the pace type on the turf, and look for him under those circumstances next time after setting the pace and weakening …read more

As soon as the horses stepped on the track in the opener, Pure Gold Honey tossed Ramsey Zimmerman, jumped the rail, and ran back to the barn. Zim got to his feet and was limping. He tried to ride the 2nd but returned to the paddock during the post parade and was off his remaining mounts.

One top home on Saturday (Toccet Launch, $8.40). Longshot play of the day Precious Metal Man ran a big debut race to miss by a neck at 6.80-1. Had contenders firing all day including a pair of 2nd/3rd choice winners at 9-1.
We have a new Pick 4 graphic up and running. My suggested ticket on Saturday cost $50, and I ended up with 3 wins for the 2nd straight day. My best bet Mr. Hunter cost me the Pick 4 when he stalked, pounced, lead, and …read more

August 9th Louisiana Downs Recap
Jeff Burningham and Jason Eads both booted home a pair. Ramsey Zimmerman and Bret Calhoun teamed up for the early double.
Early-pressing speed strong on both surfaces. Another 7.5f wire job on the turf.
Rebounded with a trio of tops getting the job done. Hopefully the mini-slump is over!
Sligo Joe (2nd race) ran well without winning again. Neat little horse handles dirt or turf, routes or sprints, and dry or wet. He lost twice as my best bet prior, but I correctly tabbed him to complete the exacta this time around.

August 8th Recap
Missed my Saturday recap from Louisiana Downs, so here it goes.

Hat trick for Ramsey Zimmerman included a pair with trainer Dallas Keen. Jose Riquelme booted home a pair.
Howdy Ho seemed like a vulnerable fav in the 4th. Granted, he had won two straight impressively, but he did not step up in class for his 2nd win, and he was trying tougher for his new trainer …read more

My best bet Miss Lewis is most effective as a stalker, but she got caught up dueling along the rail and weakened to 5th. My longshot play of the day Mary Catherine ($7.60) was live on the board and won nicely 2nd time out.
Both of my track program horses to watch (Messy Marvin, Mary Catherine) got the job done. Messy Marvin won despite his race being …read more
