September 7th Louisiana Downs Recap
Fast and firm on Labor Day. Main track played fair. Stalkers and closers best on the turf.
Curt Bourque, Jason Eads, and Francisco Torres each booted home a pair. Richard Eramia/Brian House teamed up for two wins on the day.
Heads up ride by Curt Bourque aboard local turf lover Wildrally in the 6th. He did not let chalky controlling speed Angelonmyshoulder (Jose Riquelme) sneak away early, and the former edged away late thanks to Bourque.
My best bet was the aforementioned Angelonmyshoulder, and he settled for the place. Longshot play of the day Rockittown (8-1) was necked in late stretch.

Monday (1-26-09) Fair Grounds recap
Edge to early/pressing types on the main (2 wire jobs). Turf course played fair.
Jesus Castanon booted home a pair. Gabriel Saez/Larry Jones teamed up for two wins on the day.
More of the Best pulled off a rare wire job in the flat mile grassy 5th.
Pinpoint (Theriot-Autrey) stepped up in class and gamely wore down fav Snuck By in the 6th.

Saturday (12-13-08) Fair Grounds recap
Main track played fair with an edge to horses within striking distance. Lone turf race carded was taken by an off the pace type.
Robby Albarado and John Jacinto both booted home a pair on Louisiana Champions Day.
Race 1 (Quarter Horse Juvenile): Martini Mountain ($7.40) was sharp in victory as the 2nd betting choice. Disappointing 6-5 fav Toast to Jess was never a factor.
Race 2 (Quarter Horse Derby): McM Dont Look Back was disappointing as the filly fav, but the distaff set was rescued by razor sharp winner Mon Ti Rose ($10.60). …read more
