Talk to any gamer that has been around since the days of Atari and floppy discs and you’ll detect plenty of nostalgia for the good old days of gaming. “We didn’t need flashy graphics to enjoy our videogames,” the grumpy gamer will tell you, “we just booted up our ‘ol 386 and used our imagination!” If you’re one of these gamers, there’s no need to feel alone anymore – GOG.com offers a great catalogue of games and a wonderful community of gamers that value substance over style.
As the name suggests, GOG is dedicated to providing Good Old Games to gamers …read more

Baby Dies Due To Video Game Addiction

A South Korea couple took care of their Second Life baby while their REAL baby starved to death.
According to reports, the couple would head off to an internet cafe while their three month old baby was left by herself. A three month old!
After the baby had died, the parents [if you can call them that] called emergency services and basically told cops the baby had died during the night.
Since the baby was so dehydrated [cops later discovered that baby was given one bottle a day], the cops didn’t buy that the baby “had just died” and when an autopsy was …read more

Video Games Make Kids Sociopaths

A recent Iowa University study finds violent video games make players more aggressive and less caring.
This was a “meta-analysis” meaning the author [Craig Anderson] took 130 research reports and then studied those reports and came up with the conclusion that violent video games aren’t good for kids.
Normally I would poo-poo something like this since “violent” video games seem to be the current collective Whipping Boy of American Media but the sample size of this meta-analysis is big -130k. A big sample generally means better science.
While the study doesn’t list at what age they consider a person a “youth” it seems …read more

You can breath a sigh of semi-relief and know that the Playstation Network is down for everyone…not just you.
That probably doesn’t make you feel a whole lot better but at least you can sleep soundly tonight since that person you pissed off last night during a game of COD4 had nothing to do with your issues.
Not these issues at least.
Playstation LifeStyle was the first place I saw this issue reported and now Mashable has picked it up so you know it’s pissed A LOT of people off.
The last tweet on Playstation’s official Twitter account addressed the issue with this:
