Ochocinco on Dancing With the Stars

I’m glad to see that Chad Ochocinco will be on the upcoming Dancing With the Stars. Why? Because I actually miss his on-field antics. He was starting to grow on me. Besides that, Dancing With the Stars is a far better venue to have his crazy antics than an actual football field. This way he’ll get to dance, wear pretty outfits, and show off. In fact, he might just win.
Ochocinco joins ESPN sportscaster Erin Andrews and figure skater Evan Lysacek as contestants this year. As far as Ochocinco’s teammates, Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer …read more
Michael Vick: I Like Carolina’s Uniforms

There are many reasons a player may want to go to a particular team. It’s location, the type of fan base it has, the coaching staff, the players….. but the uniforms? Michael Vick likes those Carolina uniforms! Vick still has another year on his contract, but he’s already looking ahead to where he could end up next and wasn’t afraid to share his thoughts.
USA Today reports that Vick would pick Carolina because, “It’s close to home. I like the uniforms. You get to play against Atlanta twice a year.”
Okay, but what about the latest rumor that Donovan …read more
Could Donovan McNabb Become a Ram?

When you think of Donovan McNabb, you think of the Philadelphia Eagles. He’s been their quarterback long enough that it would difficult to imagine him playing anywhere else. (Then again, I never thought I’d see Brett Favre in a purple Vikings jersey. But I digress…)
Rumors have circulated that trade talks with the Rams and Eagles have begun for a quarterback, and that the quarterback in question is not the logical choice of Michael Vick, but rather the veteran Donovan McNabb. From everything I had read, it certainly sounded like Vick was going to be a bargaining …read more
Tomlinson Won’t Be a Packer, But He Should

The Chargers let LaDainian Tomlinson go earlier this week, and since then rumors have swirled on where he would end up. I’d like the Packers to at least take a look at him, but I doubt that will happen. Ted Thompson is too cheap to play for someone like Tomlinson, even though he’d finally seal the uncertainty in the running back position.
More than hat, at 30 years old Tomlinson is much older than the guys Thompson likes to have on the team. He’s been pruning the team for years and getting rid of the experienced players. …read more
Prediction: Favre Will Be Back
February 27, 2010 by Cherie Burbach

I had my doubts on whether or not Brett Favre would be back for another round of hits this year. He ended the season with a game that had him on the ground more than he had been all year. But having reading that Brad Childress is giving him a lot of latitude with his decision, I think he will. One thing in particular caught my eye, and that was Childress’ admission that he’d “be willing to give Favre plenty of time to reach a decision and may even excuse him from offseason activities and possibly training …read more
Tim Tebow’s Throwing Motion Tweaked
February 26, 2010 by Cherie Burbach

Tweaked is a lot different than overhauled. Tim Tebow knows the difference, especially now at this point in his career. Rumors have flown lately that Tebow had been trying to change his throwing motion. Many wondered why, at this point in his career, would he do this. After all, NFL drafts are right around the corner. Perhaps that’s why Tebow is stressing today that the changes are “tweaks” and nothing more.
USA Today points out that:
Tebow’s elongated motion and low release point are perceived as factors that could prevent him from succeeding in the NFL. Projections on …read more
An Analytical Look at Brett Favre
February 25, 2010 by Cherie Burbach

Okay, I admit that when I see a sportscaster or blogger yak about Brett Favre, I tend to look away. It’s that “over hyped” thing about Favre that drives most people crazy. Simply put, they don’t want to hear about him anymore. But one thing is certain, Favre has carved out a name for himself as being a player with the most interceptions. He’s got the interception record, after all. That’s why I was particularly interested in David Arreola’s recent article called “Brett Favre: Dispelling The Myth of the Interception King.” The name alone …read more
Jayson Williams Gets Five Years in Prison

Former NBA player Jayson Williams was sentenced to five years in prison for shooting a hired limo driver on Valentine’s Day in 2002. Williams was giving people a tour of his house when he stopped in his bedroom and showed them his gun collection. According to Fox Sports, he picked up a “double-barreled 12-gauge shotgun,” and without checking the safety, and when he closed the gun it went off. It hit the limo driver, Gus Christofi in the chest and killed him.
What’s even worse, Williams tried to cover up the crime. Despite that there was a …read more
Tony Kornheiser Suspended Over Crass Remark
February 23, 2010 by Cherie Burbach

I have to admit, I was relieved that Tony Kornheiser was not on Monday Night Football this year. His insight was mostly personal opinion, and much of it centered around being constantly amazed at the accomplishments Brett Favre. As a Packer fan who wanted to simply move on from “the Favre era,” hearing Aaron Rodgers constantly compared to Favre every play was a bit much.
It’s no secret, he’s not my favorite sportscaster. Still, I feel a bit bad for him since he was suspended from his radio show, Pardon the Interruption. Kornheiser did something people at …read more
LT Released by San Diego

After nine awesome seasons with the San Diego Chargers, LaDainian Tomlinson is now history. He was released today by the team. Chargers CEO Dean Spanos sat down with LT to tell him the bad news. According to YardBarker.com, Spanos said telling LT the news was “by far the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do as an owner.”
In the NFL, however, records are only important when they are fresh. Despite that Tomlinson “ranks third all-time in the NFL with 153 touchdowns and eighth with 12,490 rushing yards” he last had an outstanding season in 2006. …read more
