Black Friday: best chance to go Blu-ray?

Until recently, Blu-ray players have been unaffordable by most middle-class and lower-class consumers. But we’ve seen them dropping to the $150-$200 range of late, and now that Black Friday ads are busting out all over, it looks like the day-after-Thanksgiving is going to be most consumers’ best opportunity to jump on the Blu-ray bandwagon, with prices dropping as low as $100 and even lower. Which ones offer the best value? These are my three picks, but read carefully…
Costco is offering Vizio’s VBR110 Blu-ray player for $99 on Black Friday. It’s important to note that the VBR110 is considered an “entry …read more

Free Case of Hint Water With “Wii Fit Plus”

There are no better fitness video games, in my opinion, than the Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus games.  Of course, it’s important to stay hydrated while you work out so you might be interested in a promotion that is currently going on.

Between now and December 15, 2009 you can get a free case of HINT water by sending a digital copy of your receipt to hintwater@5wpr.com (Limit 1 per household).  Pretty amazing, right?  HINT is the only all-natural essence water infused with fruit, with absolutely no sugar, sweeteners and preservatives.
Here are the most popular flavors:

Blackberry
Watermelon
Pomegranate Tangerine
Mango Grapefruit
Raspberry Lime

Spoon – Delivering Apps On the Web

There’s proliferation of more and more accessible Internet connectivity, expanding bandwidth availability and movement of more services to the "cloud". Being connected everywhere makes the desire to be able to have "your" stuff everywhere more of a reality.

The Spoon website and service provides the ability to access and deliver applications instantly with no downloads, installs, or hassles. [On a side note, this seems a little odd because you do have to install a the Spoon plug-in for everything to work.]
Spoon specializes in app virtualization and delivery technology, a family of sophisticated techniques that decouple apps from the underlying operating …read more

15% of UK 360 Owners Think They’re MacGyver

HOLY CRAP MONKEYS!
According to a piece I just read on Game Politics, a CNET UK survey is showing a 60% fail rate on Xbox 360s.
60 freakin’ percent!
Now, if you read through Game Politic’s article, you’ll see that the folks who bought their 360s after Jan. ‘08 had a fail rate of 34%. So, that’s not as bad but still sucks.
What really cracks me up are the 15% of people who responded that they either junked their junk 360s or tried “to fix it themselves”. Really?! 15% of the folks who answered the CNET UK survey actually decided to rip open …read more

Google Android Camera Focusing Issue

A couple of my friends have the new Android phone and I’ve got to say, from the little bit of time I’ve spent playing around with them, it’s a nice phone. There are a number of apps available and it’s got some nice media coverage. It’s from Google so you know the phone’s gotta be perfect right? Umm…

It appears that users are experiencing a little bit of an issue with the camera that’s part of the Android phone. The Android’s 5-megapixel camera’s auto-focus feature isn’t always working. You’d think it might be some kind of issue with a faulty …read more

“Left 4 Dead 2″ Now Out in Stores

Left 4 Dead fans will be happy to know that yesterday, the Xbox 360s’s game sequel, Left 4 Dead 2 was released. The game pretty much just picks up where the first one left off, with the same initial goal: fight off creepy, evil zombies.
Players will begin by being led through the southeastern region of the United States, beginning in Savannah, Georgia and continuing on to the French Quarter of New Orleans.
So, what’s new about this one? Well there are going to be four new Survivors added to the mix, on top of new monsters and weapons. These weapons …read more

Digital frame makes it easy to connect

Digital photo frames are a hot item this holiday season, and more and more, we’re seeing clever new twists on the concept that add netbook-like functions to the device. eStarling has announced a new version of its frame that adds the ability to receive video via WiFi in mere seconds.

The WPF-588 eStarling 802.11n Touchscreen Connected Digital Frame (yeesh, mouthful much?) comes with a unique Gmail address to be used for sending and receiving digital media. As the name suggests, eStarling has adopted the new WiFi standard, 802.11n, to allow connection speeds of up to 150 megabits and a range of …read more

PC World’s 25 Funniest Tech Ads

I just watched an episode of Modern Marvels recently that was talking about 80’s Tech. Now I see an article on PC World about the 25 Funniest Tech Ads and it’s all like a flashback to some weird history experiment.

Can you believe how far we’ve come in such a short time? It really wasn’t "that" long ago that these ads were being seen in current issues of the latest magazines and newspapers. Oh wait, you remember newspapers don’t you? Maybe it was a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away.
Get a good laugh yourself with PC World’s …read more

Free Apps for Writing Regular Expressions

In my recent explorations into the world of writing “regular expressions” I came across a couple of different applications that are supposed to make it easier for you to write and test your expressions.

I didn’t have that much luck as the applications weren’t really as helpful as I had anticipated or really needed. It’s been awhile since I’ve come across something that’s made me feel completely ignorant, but regular expressions seems to be the winner lately.
The two apps I found are completely free and give you quite a bit of assistance and guidance for writing your “regular expression”, but I’m …read more
