Working onsite with a client today and started talking about biking. I asked her if she knew of any good mountain biking routes on the south side of the city and she directed me to MapMyRun.com, which has user generated mapped routes for running, biking, hiking and more.
If you’re a runner and looking for a change of scenery on your runs, the MapMyRun.com site would be an awesome find from my perspective. The site lets you search by distance, location, route type, user ratings and more.
There seems to be routes added regularly by users and there are plenty to begin with now. A quick search in my city of Indianapolis returned over 900 routes available.
The routes are displayed with a map, distance, ratings, keywords/tags, user, short description and route type. What I would consider as all the important information you would need when planning your route.
Hopefully this weekend will give me some time to browse through the MapMyRun.com site and look for some options closer to me. It would be nice to be able to search by proximity with a zip code, but using keywords and just browsing through the listings should work for now.
