Tonight we stopped by our local pet store to look for some new shells for our growing hermit crabs. It appears our house is becoming a haven for a variety of family pets as we’ve also gotten a new puppy this weekend as well. While I was at the pet store my desire to setup an aquarium in our house grew even stronger.

Not too long ago I uncovered the Aquatic Eden website while I was searching for something else. Can’t remember what it was, but it also reminded me of how much I really wanted a freshwater aquarium in my possession again. I’ve been a fish lover and aquarium hobbyist since I was 10 or so. I’ve had a number of aquariums setup over the years, but it’s been awhile since my last one was setup and running.

My wife doesn’t like fish or aquariums. I think it’s because she’s never really see a nice home aquarium setup. The Aquatic Eden website highlights the types of tanks I enjoy having. Very natural looking, freshwater, planted aqua-scapes.

If you’re a fish hobbyist and haven’t visited the Aquatic Eden website you should add it to your favorites. It’s loaded with great information about a freshwater planted aquarium with plenty of great photos and resources to help you with your next tank.

Uncover the Aquatic Eden website and the joy of maintaining freshwater aquariums.

Have you ever been searching around the internet, or Googling for that little bit of information that you just can’t find the right answer for online? Or maybe you’re really wanting to get the information from someone you’d pretty much qualify as an expert.
Squidoo foots the bill on all counts.
I’ve been using Squidoo for awhile now, I actually got in on some of the initial beta release of testing it out and getting my “lens” established.

The only problem is that life crowded out the amount of time I spent on my own lenses, but I keep going back to the site to search for other information when I’m looking for that specialized tidbit of information.

We have built a new online platform and community that makes it easy for anyone to build a single page–called a lens–on a topic, idea, product or cause he is passionate about. These lenses in turn help finders get unique, human perspectives instead of computer-selected and often irrelevant search results. Not only can Lensmasters spread their ideas, get recognized for their knowledge, and send more traffic to their Web sites and blogs—they could also earn royalties.

Squidoo is kind of a brain child of the poster child for marketing nowadays (at least in my opinion since I like his thoughts and methods), Seth Godin.

Squidoo was started by the Original Squid, Seth Godin. Nearly ten years ago, Seth founded Yoyodyne, which originated the idea of permission marketing online. After Yoyodyne was acquired by Yahoo, he served as VP Direct Marketing for Yahoo for about a year. In 2000, Godin focused full-time on his career as an acclaimed public speaker, an author and a blogger. Seven of Seth’s books have been bestsellers somewhere around the world, and his blog has been picked as the best business blog by several leading publications. Seth’s head is the most recognizable author icon in business. Yes, his head.

A friend of mine alerted me to this new hobby that her and her husband have begun enjoying together.

It’s a kissing cousin to the more high tech geocaching, without all of the expense. And here’s the great thing, this website lists tons of letterboxes near you! I was surprised at how many were in our area. I definitely think this is something that our family will be doing to enjoy the weather this fall!

Is anyone else enjoying this hobby? Let me know in the comments. What other hobbies are you enjoying that has a great website to share with others who may enjoy it too? Let me know.
