Be A Donor and Save a Life - Marrow.org

A friend of mine from college is fighting for her sister that’s fighting her own epic battle with cancer. She recently sent an email out to friends and family requesting they help in the battle by doing a simple little task.

donate-marrow

The email was a simple statement of what it would take to save someone’s life. Here’s some of the email. I don’t think I could say it any more clearly myself.

Most people hesitate to become a donor because they think either–

  • it’s painful (No pain involved–it’s a simple cheek swab.)
  • it’s complicated (It’s 30 seconds on the internet. We easily spend 30 minutes just here on Facebook.)

Here is the SIMPLE process:

  1. Go to www.marrow.org
  2. Click on "Join Registry"
  3. It will ask you to agree to terms, give your name, email address, create a password, and give your mailing address.
  4. They will mail you a cheek swab kit. You collect the cells and mail it back in.

Once they receive and test your sample. It AUTOMATICALLY goes into the system, and is checked to see if it is a match. If you have any questions at all, call 1-800- Marrow2. They are very kind and helpful there.

The registration process usually costs $50 for that initial testing, but is FREE now until June 22nd. There will never be any other cost for you. If you are a match for my sister, her insurance will cover it.

Please take a moment to do this for my sister…
for her husband who is so in love with her…
for her 3 small kids who need their mommy…
for the rest of us as her family and friends who would like to have years yet with her.

What do you do with a request like that? I’ll tell you what you do, you go visit www.marrow.org and follow the 4 steps mentioned above and you realize that your simple effort very well could save someone’s life.

Getting Things Done w/ GMail

You can use Gmail to get a lot more stuff done than just reading simple, old e-mail from friends and family. Are you like me, getting weary of trying to maintain some sense of order and organization to your Inbox and your life? With GTDGmail you can accomplish both.

GTD - Getting Things Done - is a simple and effective productivity concept: designed so that even the laziest and most scattered of people can be organised and stress free.

It is a way to get things done with “less effort, more ease and elegance”.
GTD focuses on Contexts and Next Actions. A Context is the best place to achieve something, and a Next Action is the thing you think is most important to do next.
Projects and complex priorities are strongly devalued as they are rarely the answer to organisational problems.
As a very simple example, a to do list might have the Context ‘At Computer’, with the Next Actions being ‘Visit GtdGmail.com’ and ‘Download GtdGmail’. Thus, when you are next sat at the computer, you know exactly what is most effective to do next.

Take charge of your Inbox and your life and start getting things done!
