Groupon was started by some folks in Chicago, just a short drive to north of Indianapolis and they did it so they could “enjoy all the great stuff in our hometown of Chicago”. Sounds like a good enough reason for me.

Groupon has grown to over a million users who have collectively saved more than $25 million with the service. That’s a pretty good track record for a site that hasn’t been around very long at all.

Have some fun, save some money. Groupon continues to expand, soon it will be in your city if it’s not already there now: Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, Memphis, Miami, Minneapolis/St.Paul, Nashville, New York, Omaha, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, Portland, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, and Washington DC.

With the beginning of August 2009 I ended a 15 year negative habit and the resulting consequences of those 15 years. In July we paid off our last credit card to a complete $0 balance across the board. I can tell you from my personal experience, the weight that was lifted feels incredible to no longer carry. We still have bills we’re focusing on with medical bills, car payment and those darn school loans to get rid of next.

My wife and I are big fans of Dave Ramsey and we worked an adapted version of the plan that Dave presents for getting yourself out of debt and changing your life. He regularly says that people need to "Act their wage" and "Live like no one else so later you can live like no one else." We really tried to take those comments to heart and change our family’s future.

I guarantee that if you read through what Dave and his team have to say about your personal finances and even your integrity as an individual for taking responsibility for your financial decisions, you’ll change your life forever.

I’ll also guarantee you that it’s not easy. You’re going to probably be grumpy a bit as you work through these efforts, but it’s not much different than the significantly hard work of exercising and getting your physical body in shape.

Dave Ramsey has a show on the Fox News Network, daily podcasts, numerous books including his Financial Peace University class. He also travels the country for live events. I really suggest you pick up something of his and give him a try if you’re looking for a financial change.

Don’t wait for someone else to bail you out of your situation. Get down and get serious and take you success and future into your own hands.

Uncover your new future of living completely debt free with Dave Ramsey.

Have you heard of Photrade? I uncovered the Photrade website awhile back through another website I’d visited and an email newsletter I received about the upcoming blogINDIANA conference coming up in Indianapolis. I was quickly impressed with what you could do with sharing your photos and even making money from them as well.

I just received an e-mail from Upromise talking about a new $25,000 Upromise Scholarship Prize.
If you’re not familiar with Upromise, it’s something like a frequent shopper or “Points” program, but you don’t have to do anything special to earn money to put towards your kid’s education. All you do is register your credit/debit cards and when you buy stuff at your local grocery stores and restaurants, you earn money back that can be put into a variety of investments, 529’s and other savings plans to use towards college.

You can also make purchases through their online store links and earn more money. You can save money on items like:

Save 4% at Target.com

5% at LandsEnd.com

3% at JCPenny.com

2% at HomeDepot.com

5% at Overstock.com

And many, many more opportunities.

I’ve been signed up for awhile and haven’t even thought about what I’m doing. Just from the various groceries that I buy, I’ve already started a nice little “college egg” for my two kids. The other nice thing is that your family members or friends can register their credit/debit cards with your account and you can get credit for their purchases as well.

Visit the Upromise site for all the details.
