The Musipedia website lets you play the rhythm and tones of the song you just heard and using that information it will tell you the name of the song.

Musipedia will let you play the notes of the song in a variety of different ways. You can use a keyboard, plot the notes on the musical staff, use a microphone or just type out the rhythm of the song.

Pandora has always been getting the limelight and they provide a great service, but Jango is here to put a good fight and deliver some great music experience as well. Jango also has a bit more of a social network community appeal as well.

Just type in an artist – and your first station starts playing right away. You’ll get the music you want, along with similar favorites of Jango users who share your taste. Customizing your stations further is just as easy. Just add more artists and rate songs that you want to play more or less.

You can also tune in to other people’s stations – and they can tune in to yours! In your player, you’ll see who’s listening to the same music as you, who’s listening to your stations, and what your friends are playing.

The ads on Jango are more intrusive than Pandora’s, but you just need to remember you’re getting a free service and the way you get it free is because it’s sponsored by advertisers. I prefer the inline audio ads instead of pop-up windows that interrupt your songs.

The Old Switcheroo website provides a Web 2.0 spin on what we used to call a swap meet in the little country town where I grew up.

Old Switcheroo is like any healthy relationship: it’s give and take. You give others your stuff, so that at some point in the future you can take their stuff. So start things off by listing your stuff. Try to list as much as you can, since you receive credits for the number of items that you list during your initial listing.

My boss recently setup the wall at the end and bottom of his stairway to showcase some of his old 33’s album collection. Thankfully, his choices are much better than the ones above.

A friend of mine sent me a link to look at the worst album covers ever. I’ll have to agree that some of these are absolutely tragic. Although not the worst, I highlighted just a couple above, if you’d like to see more appalling cover art, go vote for the worst, there are 46 other options for you to choose from.

I was just starting to get familiar with ODEO when I uncovered the fact that they’ve decided to re-launch and improve themselves again. I’ve been added to their private beta of their effort and from what I can already tell, I like the changes.

Thanks for participating in Odeo’s beta relaunch. You’ll notice we’ve changed a lot of things, including a complete re-design emphasizing search and discovery. We’ll be adding new features and updates, and will be listening to your feedback. Let us know what you like (and what we can do better) to make Odeo an enjoyable media experience.

I do like the re-organization and improvement of bringing what’s available boldly to the surface. With the original version of ODEO I got the impression it was about finding and collecting free music MP3’s around the web in a kind of peer-to-peer network. That kind of service in general doesn’t really appeal to me at all. The re-launch beta of ODEO seems to really be focused on the more commercial audio that’s available, mostly in podcast form. I really get the impression it’s like the iTune’s podcast directory.

Seems like a really good migration in my opinion. I’ll keep it in my list of sites to keep an eye on. To give it a look yourself, you can request a beta invite from the original ODEO site.

Is it dead? I’ve done a few restores and resets and can’t get it to sync. Although on one hand I’d welcome the need to buy a new 160GB version. On the other hand, I don’t have the $400 to buy it with just laying around.

I’m really behind on my podcasts and kind of irritating since I just bought a new car radio where I can attach the iPod directly.

Anyone that might have an idea of how I can revive it, please let me know.
