When he kept updating his twitter status about heading all over the place and doing karaoke I was more than curious about to what was going on. After following some links I found out about the Whuff-aoke or Bust tour. Fun stuff happens at SXSW and now Alex has come up with another idea.

The idea was conceived of at SXSW Interactive this year while spending too many hours in the R{VIP} , the karaoke RV that travels from venue to venue in Austin during the interactive and music festivals. Tara turned to Tony and Alex at one point and mused, “My dream is to quit my job and karaoke across America, bringing peace, love and brotherhood with me along the way.” Both Tony and Alex thought that was the BEST idea ever and vowed that, if Tara ever did this, they would join her.

If you’re living in or close to one of the cities they’re coming to on their tour, you should be sure and check them out when they’re close to you. It’s always fun to meet people and karaoke right? The gang with Whuff-aoke is capturing everything live, on twitter and flickr.

One of the more interesting applications I’ve been using lately is twitter. At first I didn’t really get it. I was already using IM and blogging and e-mail of course, so the ability to blast out a short little “tweet” about what I’m doing just seemed like a waste of time.

I didn’t really catch on to the power of the application until I attended SXSW a few weeks ago in Austin and the entire b5 team used it as a sort of GPS tracking and status update mechanism for anyone in our group. We used it for quick information like:

• Where’s everyone at?
• We’re doing dinner at __________ at 6pm?
• Heading back to the ranch, who needs a ride.
• and of course @wasoverheard

Since coming back to the “real world” away from Austin and SXSW, I’ve been using twitter to stay in touch with everyone I met and what they’re up to.

Just today though Darren Rowse, the Problogger, alerted me, via twitter of course, that he was enjoying twittervision.

Twittervision let’s you see various tweet’s coming in from all over the world. People who I don’t know of at all, but it’s interesting to read what people are saying thousands of miles away.

Careful! It’s addictive.
