Have you filed your taxes yet this year? Did you owe? Did you get a huge refund? Not sure if you realize it or not but if you’ve got everything setup correctly for your withholdings you should come out with as close to no refund or no penalty as possible.
The goal is to keep as much of your money out of each paycheck as possible without giving the government an interest free loan to use throughout the year.
If you get a refund, you’ve given the government a free ride on your money for the last 12+ months. If you [...]
Post from: Uncover the Internet

One of the things I heard last night in the President’s address to Congress and the American people is that there’s been a new website setup for the economic bailout. It can surely be said he is still using technology and social media to expand his touch and communication with the citizens of the United States and anyone else that wants to listen.
The Recovery.gov website was setup to let taxpayers identify and understand where the money they’re lending to all these people is actually going. I like the transparency of it all.
One thing I saw that was missing is an RSS feed for me to stay up-to-date on what’s happening on the site without me having to go back regularly and check for myself.

It’s that time of year again. The taxman cometh. The only sure thing is death and taxes.
Now you can avoid losing a little bit more money during the process by filing your taxes for free with TaxAct.com.
I’ve never used TaxAct.com but a friend of mine just did and recommended them. I’ve been using TaxSlayer.com for the last couple of years so I’m not really looking for a new provider at this point.

I was going to say it’s that time of year again, but it’s been that time of year for a couple of months. Most people have already filed their taxes, but I still haven’t. I really need to get that done.
Regardless of your timing for doing your taxes, have you ever wondered where all that tax money goes that’s collected each year?
The TaxTrackr website will give you just the information you’ve been curious about. And you know it’s got to be cool because they spelled it without the “er” at the end.

All you need to do is put in your amounts for income, social security, medicare, etc and you can find out how much of all of that goes for items like defense, education, international affairs and more.
