It&#8217;s called &#8220;As Heard On&#8221;, and the entire section features those songs you&#8217;ve probably heard on TV shows, commercials and movies. Many of the songs featured now are the original artists performing those songs you&#8217;ve been hearing one of the American Idol contestants singing every week.

Many of the songs featured now are the original artists performing those songs you&#8217;ve been hearing one of the American Idol contestants singing every week.</p>
<div id="attachment_1812" class="wp-caption alignnone" style="width: 310px"><a href="http://www.everyjoe.com/uncovertheinternet/files/2009/04/amazon-as-heard-on.gif"><img class="size-medium wp-image-1812" src="http://www.everyjoe.com/uncovertheinternet/files/2009/04/amazon-as-heard-on-300x126.gif" alt="Amazon's &quot;As Heard On&quot; website homepage" width="300" height="126" /></a><p class="wp-caption-text">Amazon&#39;s &quot;As Heard On&quot; website homepage</p></div>
<p>Without a doubt a great way for <a title="Amazon.com As Heard On" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/b/ref=pe_32960_11730950_pe_00_head/?node=700078011" target="_blank">Amazon.com</a> to capitalize on the popularity of <a title="American Idol website" href="http://www.americanidol.com" target="_blank">American Idol</a>, and continue getting their own piece of the downloaded music marketshare from <a title="iTunes" href="http://www.itunes.com" target="_blank">iTunes</a> and <a title="Apple.com" href="http://www.apple.com" target="_blank">Apple</a>.</p>
<p>Above and beyond American Idol though, how many times have you been watching TV and heard a song in the background of a scene or in a commercial and wondered what it was or who sang it. Perhaps my best example is the old eToys.com commercial that featured &#8220;Somewhere Over the Rainbow / What a Wonderful World&#8221; by <a title="Israel Kamakawiwo'ole on Wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israel_Kamakawiwo%27ole" target="_blank">Israel Kamakawiwo&#8217;ole</a>.</p>
<p>What Amazon.com could really do to make this a great service though would be to allow you to search for songs by show title or commercial topic. Perhaps even putting in a date and time of the show you were watching to try and find the associated song. Now THAT would be cool. Almost like song tagging available on HD Radio and other services.</p>
<p>Go uncover some great music that was <a title="&quot;As Heard On&quot; by Amazon.com" href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/b/ref=pe_32960_11730950_pe_00_head/?node=700078011" target="_blank">&#8220;As Heard On&#8221; by Amazon.com</a> yourself</p>
