I just heard about a new online tool recently called Springpad. It allows you to quickly organize and share a variety of bits and pieces of information that you collect throughout the day that are important to you and put them into defined structure and places.

The other benefit of Springpad is that it harnesses the power of the social networking world and allows you to interact with and share your collections of data with those that are important to you too.

I would say the power of Springpad doesn’t rely in it’s ability to collect your information though, it’s more powerful in the way it allows you to organize, share and complement what you’ve saved with other important information that’s related. This is the part of Springpad that impresses me and is both most helpful to me.

For example, I can save restaurants to my Springpad collection and there are integrated links for making reservations at that restaurant with OpenTable if available and restaurant reviews from Yelp as well.

For homemakers you can quickly and easily make meal-planning tasks as you go about your day, collect recipes, ask friends for cooking information and then allow Springpad to help build your shopping list automatically.

Springpad integrates with Gmail (for synching your contacts and Google calendar events), flickr for sharing and organizing your thoughts with or related to photos, Facebook to help you share information with your Facebook friends and of course with twitter so you can share links and have alarms and reminders sent to your own account.

A friend shared this site with me recently as a way to shave off some precious seconds from my life wasting time with some pretty mundane activities.
With Sprint’s www.waitless.org website, you’ve got tips and tricks for saving time completing the following tasks:

Quick peel a banana
Tangle-free cord wrap
Speed-dry a manicure
Speedy sorbet
Instant sand removal
Instant baby soothe
Quick-pop a bottle cap
Two-minute soda chill
Speed-tie your shoes
Quick-peel an egg
Instant shirt removal
Turbo parking
Fast-pour ketchup
Quick-peel a potato

The shoe tying, banana peeling and cord-wrapping are particularly handy in my opinion.
Do you have some interesting tips on saving some time in your daily life? I’d love to hear about [...]
Post from: Uncover the Internet

Do you ever get to the end of your day and wonder where all those minutes and hours went in your day?
What were you doing? Did you really spend that long on Facebook? eBay? Solitaire?
Maybe you’re being really productive and you need to know exactly how much time you were spending on developing that website.
RescueTime uncovers all of that information for you.

What were you doing? Did you really spend that long on Facebook? eBay? Solitaire?

Maybe you’re being really productive and you need to know exactly how much time you were spending on developing that website.

RescueTime is a web-based time-management tool that allows you to easily understand how you spend your time. One of the coolest things about RescueTime is that there is NO DATA ENTRY. You install a doohicky on your computer and we magically track all of your time usage. For more info, check out the product tour.

RescueTime sounds like a really interesting application. I wish could find out more information from their website on exactly what installing the “doohicky” involves. I’m not a big fan of adding yet one more application or service to run on my computer throughout the day. It would be interesting if it were a toolbar add-on or potentially integrated into what’s available within the operating system itself.

GTD – Getting Things Done – is a simple and effective productivity concept: designed so that even the laziest and most scattered of people can be organised and stress free.

It is a way to get things done with “less effort, more ease and elegance”.
GTD focuses on Contexts and Next Actions. A Context is the best place to achieve something, and a Next Action is the thing you think is most important to do next.
Projects and complex priorities are strongly devalued as they are rarely the answer to organisational problems.
As a very simple example, a to do list might have the Context ‘At Computer’, with the Next Actions being ‘Visit GtdGmail.com’ and ‘Download GtdGmail’. Thus, when you are next sat at the computer, you know exactly what is most effective to do next.

Take charge of your Inbox and your life and start getting things done!
