Dopplr – Putting Your Travel Plans on the Map

Dopplr – Putting Your Travel Plans on the Map

Prior to getting into consulting and technology development, I spent about a decade in the travel industry. I quickly moved into a technology role within travel so I became quickly interested in any new travel related technologies. To this day I still enjoy keeping tabs on some of the travel tools that are now available online.

The Dopplr website is a very interesting travel tool that doesn’t serve as a reservations assisting application, but is used more for sharing and interacting with your reservation after they’re booked. In addition, it also lets you share your travel plans easily with your …read more

The Digital Hotlist 2009

The Digital Hotlist 2009

2009 will go down in history as the year everything at least seemed to change if it didn’t really change completely. It’s become a new world for many people with lots of change in a variety of areas. Perhaps the one thing that still remained the same is that the web is still almost central to much of what we do.

MediaWeek has released their 2009 Digital Hotlist that covers just what has been happening in the world of the web and technology.

Facebook – up from #2 on the list in 2008. This site is larger in population than most …read more

Do you believe?… Inspiring Keynote Speech by Dalton Sherman

Do you believe?… Inspiring Keynote Speech by Dalton Sherman

Today we had our student led conferences at my kid’s school. It’s an opportunity for parents to meet with the teacher’s and student and see how their year is progressing. Early today I heard about another 10-year old who’s teaching his teachers a thing or two.

10-year old Dalton Sherman spoke to the a back-to-school kick-off event for the Dallas Independent School District in Texas. His speech is an inspiration to teachers, or should be and it should also remind us all of the inherent value in each child that steps into the schools every day along with our own children.

Microsoft Launches H1N1 Swine Flu Informational Website

I’m sitting here on the couch in my flannel lounge pants, t-shirt and covered in a nice warm quilt my grandmother made a long time ago. If you haven’t gotten the imagery yet, I’m not feeling good and am sick at home.

My wife is already fearful that I’ve got the swine flu, the other white virus. I personally like to call it just feeling like crap and that my head may explode at any minute.
Microsoft has setup The H1N1 Response Center website to help me confirm that idea by teaching me more about the virus and whether or not …read more

Using Drop.io To Share and Collaborate

We continue to uncover a wide variety of websites on Uncover the Internet. A potential trend for websites that we’ve covered are those that allow and encourage the sharing of information and resources between individuals and groups of individuals.

The Drop.io website is another listing in that same group of sites. One of the biggest differences from my experience in sharing about these different sites is that Drop.io provides a significant amount of space for users to enjoy for free.
The Drop.io site allows you to share an unlimited number of files that can be up to 100MB in size each. The …read more

Use Qipit to Share Files Quickly

Use Qipit to Share Files Quickly

Just today I took a picture of a document and emailed it to someone for them to see the comments that were written on the page. It was kind of like faxing something to them, but without the fax machine.

Then this evening I hear about the Qipit website which promotes sending documents in just that way. Use your camera on your phone to take a picture of a document and then share that document using the network connectivity of your phone.
Qipit does more than just send documents. You can also just store them, actually fax them, email them or even …read more

Passive Aggressive Notes

I must say that one of my least favorite groups of people are passive aggressive. They just annoy me in their manipulative manner of sharing their ideas and needs and intentions with other people. Did you know there’s a website that highlights the activities of this group of people?

Go to PassiveAggressiveNotes.com and enjoy photos of some of the best examples of passive aggressiveness that you’ve seen. Many of them seem to be related to your corporate work environments and the sneaky theft of food among coworkers.
What I didn’t really expect to happen is that surfing through the site and taking …read more

World’s Most Expensive Commercials

World’s Most Expensive Commercials

The other night I was watching TV and saw one of my favorite commercials from the Super Bowl. This morning I saw a link for a story about the world’s most expensive commercial. Are these commercials worth the costs?

The original story talked about a Honda commercial that I don’t remember ever even seeing on TV, and I love Honda cars. The most expensive commercials listed on this website are really entertaining, but are they worth it?
Let us know what your favorite commercial is and why. Did the commercial make you purchase something that was being advertised? After all, that’s …read more

Swaxy – Making Online Shopping Attractive Again

Shopping online can get boring these days. Thumbing through pages and pages and pages of catalog items can be so dull. When you don’t have to worry about shelf space or overhead having so much inventory can put people to sleep. Swaxy will wake you up!

I’m sure you can see why Swaxy will wake up your online shopping. Swaxy has taken shopping and brought the sexy back, although I’m not sure when sexy was ever really used in the same sentence with shopping. Thanks to Andrew Matus, the brains behind site, men may think twice before saying they’re don’t …read more
