GROUPON – Collective Buying Power Coming to Your City

My wife shared a link with me this evening that looks pretty interesting. It’s a coupon and discount site called Groupon, but it’s more than just coupons. It’s a marketing tool as well and the idea is to swarm a location or establishment with business. What company wouldn’t want that kind of attention?!

With coupons, you did like I did tonight and save a few bucks on a variety of different grocery items. Groupon let’s you save real money on some really great stuff that you’d like to do, but you didn’t want to spend the full price on it to …read more

Profiles in History Auction Item Sales List

Profiles in History Auction Item Sales List

Last month I covered the Profiles in History auction that was taking place online. You could have bid on an original Mac computer that was given to Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry by Apple. I just got an email listing some of the other items that were available to bid and that others won.

There were some really cool items auctioned off, both from a historical significance and for those sci-fi and movie buffs. Check-out these items and the prices they went for in the auction.

$141,600 – Original Amelia Earhart flight goggles worn during her historic 1932 solo transatlantic flight. …read more

It’s Fantasy Football Time!

It’s Fantasy Football Time!

It’s that time of year again. Fantasy Football time! I’ve got two drafts going on right now. Which is not helpful because I have plenty of other stuff I’m also working on as well! It looks like this year is going to be another stretched out season for me.

I’m going to have fantasy football teams on loads of websites.

Fox Sports Fantasy Football
ESPN Fantasy Football League
Yahoo! Sports Fantasy Football
CBS Sports Fantasy Football

I’m sure it’s going to be quite a bit to keep up with. I know last year I couldn’t remember what player I had …read more

Hasbro Monopoly Championship

I absolutely love playing Monopoly. I would love to participate in a Monopoly tournament and I can have that chance now on the Hasbro Monopoly website.
What I didn’t realize is that there is a TON of strategy and statistics that should be known to be a complete master of this game. That I don’t have yet.
Part of the process for making it to the tournament selection process is to get 16 out of 20 Monopoly related multiple-choice questions correct. I only got 13. Makes me feel like an idiot and will probably curse me to spend FAR too much …read more

Yapta – Track Fares and Win

Yapta is a website that lets you search for flights to take your next trip, and track them for future price changes before you confirm and purchase them. You don’t purchase the flights through Yapta, but they link you back to the airline’s or other seller’s website for the actual purchase.
Now they’re also having a contest through the end of the month for tracking flights and you can get up to 10 entries.
Yapta is proud to announce the “Track-A-Flight” Sweepstakes where you can win one of 20 prizes, including a $500 gift card to Marriott, a 1-year Clear Pass, …read more

Payoff Your Mortgage Sweepstakes

Image: Screen grab from Popular Mechanics website by Jason Bean
Here’s another online contest where you could win $250,000 to pay off your mortgage. In economic times like these, getting rid of that house payment would really come in handy wouldn’t it?
Just to give you an idea of the scale, that $700B bailout we all just paid for would have been enough money to award $250,000 to 2,800,000 homeowners. I’d say that would have helped the economy a bit too. That would have been an Extreme Financial Makeover: Home Edition.
Since that didn’t happen, the next best thing is to enter …read more

Crayola – Release Your Child’s Creativity

Do you have kids?
If your kids are anything like my daughter, then they spend all kinds of time laying on the floor or at her table and coloring pictures. She’s quite the artist and it seems like she’s always looking for something new to color.
