Not too long ago I wrote about the CardFunk website and all the cool and animated cards you can create and customize to send to friends. They’ve just updated their content and now have more Christmas cards to get your CardFunk groove on.
If you’re not familiar with what happens, you upload a picture of yourself and some friends and embed their images on some dancing, animated characters on the card. They usually dance and sing and it’s all around a good time to be had by all.
When you watch these cards, you can’t help but bring a little smile …read more

Here lately I’ve been really paying attention to trying to save some money wherever possible. I don’t consider myself a hardcore coupon person, but if I see a coupon for something we buy regularly, then I’ll save it and use it.
The Cellfire website brings that pin-point item selection right to you. What’s nice is they deliver those coupons to you in a way that’s probably as convenient as possible and something you’ve already got with you at the store: your cell phone and a store savings card.
Cellfire is the premier destination for valuable savings on groceries, shopping, restaurants, and …read more
Using Springpad to Organize Your Life

I just heard about a new online tool recently called Springpad. It allows you to quickly organize and share a variety of bits and pieces of information that you collect throughout the day that are important to you and put them into defined structure and places.
The other benefit of Springpad is that it harnesses the power of the social networking world and allows you to interact with and share your collections of data with those that are important to you too.
I would say the power of Springpad doesn’t rely in it’s ability to collect your information though, it’s more …read more
Oh Crap! My Parents Joined Facebook

One of my favorite commercials right now is the Verizon commercial where the kids are trying to get their parents to take it easy on their Facebook updates and twittering. It’s funny because our family can relate, and yes, many people would say I’m that dad on twitter.
My wife and I are both on Facebook (she’s probably more active on it than I am) and I’m on twitter quite a bit. We have two kids and our oldest is always looking over our shoulder to see what we’re saying. Both sets of our parents are also on Facebook as …read more

Today we had our student led conferences at my kid’s school. It’s an opportunity for parents to meet with the teacher’s and student and see how their year is progressing. Early today I heard about another 10-year old who’s teaching his teachers a thing or two.
10-year old Dalton Sherman spoke to the a back-to-school kick-off event for the Dallas Independent School District in Texas. His speech is an inspiration to teachers, or should be and it should also remind us all of the inherent value in each child that steps into the schools every day along with our own children.

My son introduced me to a website tonight that I wish he hadn’t. It’s become a giant waste of time, albeit a lot of fun too. It started with a game he was playing and having fun with tonight as I was working. I told him I could beat him easy.
Turns out I haven’t beaten him yet.
The website he uncovered and I’ve been sucked into tonight is Ninja Kiwi. There are a variety of games available, but the one I’ve been absorbed with is some kind of balloon pop game. Various strategies and obstacles make each stage a little …read more

My wife and I are big fans of Dave Ramsey and his Total Money Makeover plan. He was recently in Indianapolis for one of his LIVE events and my wife was able to attend. While she was there she heard about a website called E-mealz.
The E-mealz website helps you take most of the time and hassle out of planning your meals for your family each week. The founders of E-mealz, Jenny Cochran and Jane DeLaney, started the E-mealz site to achieve a few goals for themselves and for busy moms and frugal family cooks everwhere:
Spend more time with your family

"Dad… I’m bored!". "There’s nothing to do!" How many times have you heard those in your life? How many times have you said it yourself? I remember in college, I went to a small school in a small town, we’d sit in our dorm rooms and complain about not having anything to do.
The Goby website has brought Web 2.0 to choosing your own adventure.
The interface is simple to use, you just put in a keyword of what you want to do, where you want to do it and when you’d like it to happen. Clicking on "Search" then …read more

Looks like we’re on a bit of a theme here with websites related to pets so we’ll stay with it for a bit longer. Can’t help it as new pets and questions about pets have been proliferating through my discussions as of late. The Petsicon website is like WebMD.com except for your dog
Petsicon is still in beta, but after reading about it and browsing through the site, I’m surprised by the fact I’ve never stumbled across a site quite like it before. More Americans than ever are including pets into their families. More than half of all American households have …read more
Using SpellingCity to Help Your Kids in School

I was over at a friend’s house this evening and their kids wanted to play on Spelling City with my little girl. I’ve never heard of the site and I liked it immediately after finding out more about what the site provides to students.
The Spelling City website lets your sign-up and register as a parent and then have you kids sign-on and practice their own spelling words. The website allows you to add your kid’s spelling words into the site. This lets your kids practice their own words, not just general spelling words.
The other great feature is that teachers can …read more
