I just heard about a new online tool recently called Springpad. It allows you to quickly organize and share a variety of bits and pieces of information that you collect throughout the day that are important to you and put them into defined structure and places.
The other benefit of Springpad is that it harnesses the power of the social networking world and allows you to interact with and share your collections of data with those that are important to you too.
I would say the power of Springpad doesn’t rely in it’s ability to collect your information though, it’s more …read more

Prior to getting into consulting and technology development, I spent about a decade in the travel industry. I quickly moved into a technology role within travel so I became quickly interested in any new travel related technologies. To this day I still enjoy keeping tabs on some of the travel tools that are now available online.
The Dopplr website is a very interesting travel tool that doesn’t serve as a reservations assisting application, but is used more for sharing and interacting with your reservation after they’re booked. In addition, it also lets you share your travel plans easily with your …read more

2009 will go down in history as the year everything at least seemed to change if it didn’t really change completely. It’s become a new world for many people with lots of change in a variety of areas. Perhaps the one thing that still remained the same is that the web is still almost central to much of what we do.
MediaWeek has released their 2009 Digital Hotlist that covers just what has been happening in the world of the web and technology.
Facebook – up from #2 on the list in 2008. This site is larger in population than most …read more

The folks behind Farm Town on Facebook have released some new functionality and features that are now available to those of us willing to admit we’re addicted. A couple of friends and I have a good time helping each other out on our farms, but we haven’t come close to this magic.
The Farm-Town.com website has put together a great collection of tips and tricks so you can learn how to do a little bit more with your farm than just grow some crops and raise some animals.
Taking advantage of the angled perspective of the farm layout and some forced …read more
When Websites Force You to Login to Interact

My personal belief is that one of the best things about the whole social media and web 2.0 world of things is the interaction. It’s about connecting with people and interacting. It’s about sharing your thoughts without being forced to share anything else.
I was visiting a website today and wanted to leave a comment. The problem was I couldn’t leave a comment without creating an account and registering as a user for the website. I may never visit this site ever again in my life, why should I have to register and create an account just to leave a …read more
Blinka.me – Trying To Connect People… Again!

I’m not sure why, but I remember as a kid reading through the classifieds and finding a section of "ads" from people who had met each other randomly but didn’t really exchange contact information. They would put up an ad and hope the other person would read it and remember the event.
The Blinka.me website is attempting to take that whole "reconnect" effort and webify it with some good ol’ Web 2.0 charm.
Combining the simple idea of the classified ad, with the power of the Internet, GPS, mapping and social media should make those efforts pay off in a significantly …read more
Rollip – Bringing Your Photos to Life in Polaroids

The death of Kodak producing "real" film anymore is a big loss for the way things used to be. Sure, digital cameras are amazing and let us do stuff with photos we haven’t been able to do before as consumers. There was just something about the look of an old-school Polaroid that brought back memories.
We experienced a bit of the same thing with the death of vinyl albums. Sure CD’s were supposed to be indestructible and unscratchable, but there was still something about listening to audio with a bit of a hiss and crackle to it.
The Rollip website allows you …read more

Yesterday I wrote about RSS Bankruptcy and how I didn’t think I would ever keep up with all of my RSS subscriptions. I’ve spoken to a number of people that have started to rely on twitter to get their notifications of what’s happening on the web and what they should be reading.
The ReadTwit website taps into your twitter updates and posts and grabs all the links from your updates and puts them into an RSS feed. You subscribe to the feed and now you can catch all of those interesting websites and links in your preferred feed reader.

We continue to uncover a wide variety of websites on Uncover the Internet. A potential trend for websites that we’ve covered are those that allow and encourage the sharing of information and resources between individuals and groups of individuals.
The Drop.io website is another listing in that same group of sites. One of the biggest differences from my experience in sharing about these different sites is that Drop.io provides a significant amount of space for users to enjoy for free.
The Drop.io site allows you to share an unlimited number of files that can be up to 100MB in size each. The …read more
