Uncover the Internet

What Friends Do

I uncovered the What Friends Do website this morning as I was reading a local blog entry here in Indianapolis. The website reminds me of the CaringBridge website which I’ve talked about previously.

It allows a group of people to rally around an individual and give them support and assistance during a tough and trying time in their lives.

When a life-changing event happens, friends and family want to help! The WhatFriendsDo.com webtool is a FREE website that can help family and friends form a “Team” and respond in an organized and helpful way. Helping a friend through a life-changing event involves lending a hand with meals, transportation and other tasks. These events also call for understanding, love and uplifting support.

Here’s what the developer had to say about the site from the post I read this morning:

What we also did was create an amazing cheer network, which became known as “Laura’s Team,” that brought great joy to Laura and her family, and helped them through the dark, difficult situation they were facing. The unique cheer we implemented also transformed all of Laura’s Team; friends did not drift away as they often do during uncomfortable situations. We “celebrated” special days: popcorn day, cherry pie day, random acts of kindness day, plant a flower day. We left surprises on Laura’s doorstep, held special parties, sent themed items in the mail.

What a great idea and great tool for people to use when friends need them.

  1. Jason,

Thanks for the kind mention of CaringBridge.org. We’re really glad that you have personally had a “CaringBridge Experience” and have found our service to be a helpful resource for people facing a serious medical condition, treatment and recovery.

One small point I wanted to reiterate about our service that we feel is pretty important — we are a non-profit organization. That means that our focus has been, is and always remains solely focused on serving people and helping them stay connected, share information, hope and healing through their journey — rather than selling products or ads.

Thanks again for the love for CaringBridge.org!
