I wasted my time reading the article titled “windows vista extreme speedup” since it recommends the following:
The best way to increase the speed, of any computer that currently uses Windows Vista, is to switch to any of the free, Extremely powerful, Linux Operating Systems. You can visit DistroWatch to see an up-to-date list of new distributions coming out almost on a daily basis.
The most popular Debian Distribution is Ubuntu
The most popular Red Hat Distrubtion is Fedora
Debian is the root OS of many distributions, and I personally use it. It is extremely stable, and very powerful!!
Installation of any Linux Operating System will increase the speed of your computer. Take a Windows Vista Laptop or Desktop PC to the next level by deleting Windows, and Installing Linux
The title should instead be changed to “The best way not to do anything with your computer”. That should explain why his suggestion is going to make your computer blazing fast.

I juss Bought a Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista Home Premium THis Computer has crashed more times than days i have owned it. wich is less than 20 days… if i just leave it to do its thing it will freeze up. when it froze, it was reading something like 13 % CPU Usage.
I pretty sure that its vista causing the problem and definitely not Toshiba… Right now I wish I could be sure I could effectively run Ubuntu or Fedora on my Pentium Dual Core system that came with Vista already on it. LoL Somone Tell me if its possible… THey meaning ms say that no you cant change from vista back to xp professional but is that true for other possibly linux based os as well? Sounds to me like you have not tried Linux recently if at all.
I run dual boot with Windows and Linux, and I spend 80% of my time fixing windows, the other 20% is spent actually getting work done because I have Linux. Once I get tired of not getting anything done, I boot over to Linux and get quite a bit done.
before you go and make a statement that you can’t get anything done with Linux, I would recommend you give it a fair shot, which is longer than 48 hours. Try a Live CD for a month, it will not hurt your windows install, If you still say you can’t get anything done with it, then you can post about your experiences to prove it.
MS says that so that you are “stuck” with the operating system that was on the system. If you want to run Linux as the sole OS on that system you can.
This “THey meaning ms say that no you cant change from vista back to xp professional” is a bully tactic. When you go to change the system back to a previous version of XP or is you decide to go with Linux, You are formatting the HDD. I have yet to see a “Vista” machine that can’t be converted to another OS. They said the same thing about NTSF and Fat32. But if you use a program like partition Magic or Fdisk, you are removing the partition and therefore removing the file structure they rely on.
Vista is a downgrade to XP, they know what they are doing, because they are charging hefty for tech support for this pathetic OS.
They want to make sure that you can use old programs and so forth that might leave an opening for hacking and so forth I believe. Can’t play the XP games on it (as i’m sure you all know), and lower tool bar completely vanishes.
And people are actually spending money on this? You are MUCH better off with the un-Virus friendly linspire 6.0 (no one dedicates virus’s to Linux perse) http://www.linspire.com/products_linspire_whatis.php?tab=features
